The available material does not establish a specific calculator’s implementation, search position, or test results. This guide lays out how to build and evaluate one—and what evidence would make a comparison credible.
What a tile calculator needs to calculate
A useful calculator makes its assumptions visible. A basic version can ask for a room’s length and width and a tile’s length and width, then estimate the number of tiles required. Before publishing, specify the units, how fractional tile counts are rounded, and whether the estimate includes an allowance for cuts or breakage. Those choices affect the result; there is no project-specific formula or test case established here.

Make inputs and results understandable
- Label each measurement with its unit and reject missing, zero, or invalid values.
- Show the area calculation and any waste allowance rather than returning an unexplained total.
- Round tile quantities up to whole tiles, and explain any allowance used.
- Test representative room and tile dimensions, including invalid input and unit mismatches, before treating the calculator as dependable.
How to build a tile calculator in Next.js and improve its Lighthouse score
Keep the explanatory content and page structure available in the rendered page, and use client-side interactivity for inputs that need immediate recalculation. The exact route, component split, and rendering choice depend on the application; no source code or project URL is available here to verify a particular implementation.
For metadata, use the Metadata API appropriate to the Next.js version actually installed. The cited Next.js Metadata guide is for version 13, so its examples should not be assumed to match every current project. See Next.js Metadata documentation.

To assess Lighthouse meaningfully, run it against a production build rather than relying on development mode. Record the tested URL and date, browser and Lighthouse versions when available, device profile, network settings, and whether extensions or third-party scripts were active. Next.js notes that browser extensions can affect results: Next.js: SEO and Lighthouse.
What Core Web Vitals measure
Google currently describes Core Web Vitals as three distinct measures: loading performance (LCP), responsiveness (INP), and visual stability (CLS). Its stated good-experience targets are LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP below 200 milliseconds, and CLS below 0.1. These are user-experience targets, not a guaranteed Lighthouse score or ranking outcome. Google’s guidance recommends achieving good Core Web Vitals for Search success and user experience: Understanding Core Web Vitals and Google search results.

Google assesses these metrics at the 75th percentile of page visits, with mobile and desktop considered separately. A single lab run cannot establish that a site meets those field thresholds.
Lab scores and real-user data answer different questions
Lighthouse is a controlled audit of a URL under particular test conditions. Field data reflects actual user experiences and can vary from a live lab run. Search Console’s Core Web Vitals report provides field context; PageSpeed Insights can include both field and live-test data, which may not agree. Consult Google Search Console’s Core Web Vitals report when evaluating real-user data.

How to add JSON-LD in Next.js
JSON-LD describes page content in a machine-readable form. Next.js recommends rendering it as a script tag in the relevant layout or page. Choose a schema type that accurately describes content visitors can see, and keep the structured data consistent with that content. The Next.js guidance is on its version 13 documentation page: Next.js Metadata documentation.

Validate the rendered page with Google’s Rich Results Test or Schema Markup Validator, as recommended by Next.js. Valid JSON-LD does not by itself establish a ranking gain or guarantee that Google will show a rich result. Chrome also makes clear that its structured-data Lighthouse audit is manual and does not change the Lighthouse SEO score: Chrome for Developers: Structured data is valid.

What evidence supports a claim that a calculator beats competitors?
“Beats every Home Depot clone” is not a measurable comparison until the competing pages and the meaning of “beats” are defined. Search visibility and Lighthouse performance are separate outcomes; a strong score in one does not prove superiority in the other.

- Define the comparison. Name the exact competing URLs. For search visibility, state the query, geography, device, observation date, and method.
- Make performance tests comparable. Test each page under the same production, device, and network conditions. Record dates and repeat runs where practical; share reports or the measured values.
- Separate conclusions. Report search observations independently from lab scores and field Core Web Vitals. Do not use one as proof of the other.
No calculator URL, competitor sample, ranking data, or Lighthouse report is established for the project described by the headline. Without that evidence, a claim of outperforming competitors should be presented as an aspiration or personal impression, not a verified result.
