You can then use it for MyPLAYER attributes, animations, apparel, equipment and, where supported, MyTEAM packs. The sensible approach is to decide which mode and goal matter to you, check the exact in-game price, and spend only after confirming that the purchase supports that goal. VC is not the same as MyTEAM Points (MTP), which are earned and spent inside MyTEAM.
What VC does in NBA 2K27
2K Support defines VC as “Virtual Currency, which you can earn throughout the various game modes in NBA 2K to spend on a wide variety of content throughout the game.” In NBA 2K27, that means one balance can support several kinds of progression and customization instead of being limited to a single activity.

VC is relevant to players who move between MyCAREER, online play and MyTEAM, but the item you buy still determines where the benefit appears. A MyPLAYER attribute upgrade affects your MyCAREER player. An animation package changes available on-court moves. Apparel and equipment are customization choices. A MyTEAM pack is content for the card-collecting mode rather than a MyCAREER upgrade.

VC and MTP are separate currencies
Confusing the two currencies can lead to a purchase that does not help the mode you play. 2K Support describes MTP as MyTEAM Points. MTP comes from MyTEAM challenges, agendas and tasks, and can be spent only within MyTEAM. Examples include player cards, packs and specific card boxes.

VC does not turn into MTP, and MTP cannot be used as a substitute for VC on a MyPLAYER upgrade. Before confirming a purchase, check the currency icon and the mode shown in the transaction screen.
How to earn VC in NBA 2K27
The official support guidance confirms two broad gameplay routes: connected progression through MyCAREER and online matches. It does not publish a current VC-per-hour figure or identify one route as the fastest. Treat these as supported ways to earn VC, not as a guaranteed optimal grind.
Play connected MyCAREER progression
MyCAREER progression can award VC while you advance through its connected activities. The exact objectives, rewards and pacing can change with updates, seasons and account conditions. Rather than relying on an old list of quests or endorsements, open the current MyCAREER objectives and reward screens in your game and confirm what each activity pays before investing time.
This route is most practical when you already want to develop a MyPLAYER. You can work toward career milestones while collecting VC for later attributes, animations or equipment. Keep a note of the next upgrade you want so that earned VC is not spent impulsively between activities.
Play online matches
2K Support also lists online matches as an earning route. Match rewards can depend on the activity and the game’s live systems, so do not assume that every match awards the same amount or that a particular mode is currently superior. Use the post-game reward screen to verify what was actually credited.

Online play can make sense when you enjoy competing with other players. If you are playing only to chase an unverified hourly rate, you may spend time in a mode you dislike without a reliable return. The available evidence does not support a universal “best ways to get VC” ranking.
Stay connected to the internet
The same support article says an internet connection is required for VC or MTP to accrue. If your balance does not change after an eligible activity, check that the game remained connected, allow the activity and reward screen to finish, and restart only after the result has been recorded. Offline play should not be treated as a dependable way to build either currency.
Check current objectives and rewards
Live objectives, events and mode-specific rewards can change. Before starting a long session, inspect the in-game objectives, season panels and activity reward descriptions. This lets you choose activities based on the reward currently displayed instead of an outdated guide. Do not assume that a quest, daily reward, endorsement or event mentioned in an older video is active in your version of NBA 2K27.
Earn versus buy
Gameplay and paid acquisition are both official routes. Buying VC can shorten the time before an upgrade, but the support documentation does not say that paid VC is required to progress. You can choose to earn VC through play, buy it, or combine the two. Set a spending limit before opening the store, especially if several modes share the same balance.
How to spend VC according to your goal
There is no single purchase that is “best” for every player. A useful decision uses four questions: What mode do you play? Does the purchase improve performance or appearance? Is the cost shown for a specific item, or does it open a pack with an uncertain result? Are you paying money or investing time earned through play?

For MyCAREER performance
Attributes and animations are the functional categories. If your immediate problem is a rating threshold, an attribute upgrade addresses that specific limitation. If your issue is movement, shooting, dribbling or another control option, an animation package may be more relevant, provided your player meets its requirements.

Read the upgrade screen rather than estimating from a community build. The available sources do not establish a universal attribute cost, build total or recommended order. Your position, play style and intended role determine which upgrade has value. A defensive specialist, shot creator and interior big can rationally choose different priorities.
For appearance and customization
Apparel, uniforms and equipment are valid VC uses when customization is your priority. They can make a player feel personal, but they do not automatically improve the underlying ratings or create a faster earning route. Cosmetic purchases are easier to delay because they do not block a gameplay requirement. If you are still testing a build, consider waiting until you know you will keep that player.
For MyTEAM packs
2K Support says VC can be used to open MyTEAM packs. Packs are not the same as MTP, and buying one does not guarantee a particular player card unless the in-game description explicitly says so. Review the current pack contents, price and any displayed odds before confirming. The source material does not provide pack odds, expected values or a claim that VC packs are the most efficient way to build a team.

A practical VC spending workflow
Use this sequence whenever you are deciding whether to spend a balance.
- Name the goal. Write down whether you need a rating, an animation, a cosmetic item or MyTEAM content. If you cannot name the goal, postpone the purchase.
- Open the correct mode. Enter MyCAREER for MyPLAYER upgrades and customization, or MyTEAM for mode-specific content. Confirm that the item accepts VC rather than MTP.
- Read the item details. Check the displayed VC cost, prerequisites, duration or permanence, and any restrictions. For packs, read the contents and odds information shown in the purchase panel.
- Compare the opportunity cost. Ask what the same VC could do elsewhere. Spending on apparel may delay an attribute; spending on a pack may leave no balance for a guaranteed animation. This is a priority decision, not a universal value calculation.
- Confirm the platform transaction. If you are buying VC with money, review the platform store’s current price, currency, age controls and confirmation screen. Prices and bundles can differ by region and platform.
- Record the result. After purchase, verify the updated balance and that the item appears in the intended mode. Keep the receipt or transaction history if the balance does not update.
Promotional VC: what the dated offers mean
Promotional VC is time-limited. A historical offer should not be treated as a standing entitlement or current price.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming MTP and VC are interchangeable
MTP belongs to MyTEAM and VC can appear across supported modes. If a MyTEAM objective awards MTP, that balance will not fund a MyPLAYER upgrade. Check the currency label before planning a grind.
Spending before a build is settled
Early attribute and animation decisions can lock VC into a player you later abandon. Test your preferred position and play style first, then spend on requirements that support that build. Cosmetic items can wait until you are confident the player will remain your main character.
Expecting a pack to deliver a specific card
A pack is content with an uncertain outcome unless its description guarantees something specific. Do not budget as if one purchase will produce a named card. Treat the displayed odds and contents as the boundary of what is known.
Trusting an old reward guide
Events, objectives and seasonal offers can expire. A route shown in a past video may no longer exist or may pay differently. Verify the current in-game panel and the date of any promotion.
Assuming offline progress will credit VC
2K Support requires an internet connection for VC or MTP to accrue. If a session was disconnected, wait for synchronization and confirm the balance before leaving the mode.

Spending plans for different players
The MyCAREER-focused player
Keep VC reserved for the attributes or animations that solve your current gameplay limitation. Review requirements first, buy only the next meaningful upgrade, and earn additional VC through connected MyCAREER activities you already enjoy. Delay appearance items until the build feels right.
The appearance-focused player
Set aside a fixed cosmetic budget and treat apparel, uniforms and equipment as optional customization. Because these items do not automatically raise ratings, do not sacrifice a required gameplay upgrade if your priority is performance. Check whether an item is tied to one player or can be used more broadly before purchasing.
The MyTEAM-focused player
Track MTP earned from challenges, agendas and tasks separately from VC. If you choose to use VC on packs, decide in advance how much uncertainty you accept, read the current pack description and avoid assuming a particular card will appear. A pack purchase is not a substitute for understanding the team-building objective you are pursuing.

Keep a reserve instead of spending the entire balance in one mode. Because VC can support several categories, a reserve preserves flexibility when a new animation, attribute need or time-limited offer appears. Recheck the price and requirements at the moment you buy rather than relying on a remembered figure.
What the official information does not establish
There is no substantiated universal fastest grind route, VC-per-hour benchmark, current regional price list, fixed build cost, pack-odds analysis or guarantee that a paid purchase is needed. Those details can vary by platform, region, season and live service state. Any guide claiming exact numbers should identify the date, edition, platform and measurement conditions.
The reliable baseline is narrower but useful: connected MyCAREER progression and online matches are recognized earning routes; internet access is required for accrual; VC and MTP are different; VC can cover functional, cosmetic and some MyTEAM purchases; and promotional amounts must be checked against their expiration and storefront conditions.
