In MyCAREER practice, open Playmaking and select Pick and Roll Combo. Use Jock Landale’s side screen to get open, make the pass shown in the on-screen prompt, then stand fully inside the orange shooting circle until it fills. Move to a shooting position and make the jump shot. The drill awards one point for the correct pass and one for a made shot.
How to complete the Pick and Roll Combo drill
- Open the drill: In MyCAREER practice, go to Playmaking and choose Pick and Roll Combo.
- Use the screen: Wait for Jock Landale to set the side screen, then move off it to get open on the perimeter.
- Follow the pass prompt: Check the instruction at the bottom of the screen and make the specified pass. Possible prompts include a regular pass, bounce pass or alley-oop; the type is randomized each rep.
- Fill the shooting circle: After passing, move into the orange circle and remain fully inside it until it fills. Being near the circle is not enough.
- Take the shot: Once the circle fills, move to your desired shooting position and make the jump shot.
How the drill scores
Nerd’s Chalk’s 2026 guide reports one point for a correct pass and one for a made shot. You can earn both points in a rep by completing both actions. A made shot by itself does not establish that the rep registered correctly if you skipped the circle-fill step.

Why a rep may not count as expected
- Wrong pass type: Match the prompt displayed for that rep rather than using the same pass every time.
- Circle not filled: Stay fully inside the orange shooting circle until it completes before moving to shoot.
- Assuming button mappings: The guide lists controls for general pick-and-roll play but says they are carried over from recent entries and are not confirmed for the NBA 2K27 launch build. Use the on-screen prompt and check Controller Settings for current mappings.
Pick and Roll Combo is not Pick & Roll: 2-on-2
These are separate practice options. The Combo drill uses a randomized pass prompt followed by the shooting-circle requirement. Nerd’s Chalk describes Pick & Roll: 2-on-2 as a standard pick-and-roll possession without that randomized prompt, with a different scoring table:
