To complete the Get Open Pass drill in NBA 2K27, select a teammate with the Left Stick, hold the on-screen get-open button, then release it to pass. Change Receiver Control if the input calls a handoff
- Pause and open Options > Controller Settings.
- Scroll to the Off-Ball section.
- Set Receiver Control to Receiver Get Open.
- Return to the drill and try the sequence again.
The walkthrough says the Handoff/Pitch Pass behavior can route the hold input to a handoff instead of the get-open action the drill expects. This setting advice is secondary reporting, not an officially documented NBA 2K27 fix.
Use the hold-then-release sequence
- Aim the Left Stick toward the teammate you want to select.
- Hold Circle on PlayStation or B on Xbox to call that teammate open.
- Release the button to pass the ball.

Why the sequence makes sense
The drill tests calling a receiver to get open before passing, rather than simply pressing a pass button. An official 2K manual for NBA 2K25 describes the general mechanic as holding a button to make the selected receiver cut and get open, then releasing it to pass. That earlier-edition manual supports the general hold-to-cut, release-to-pass idea; it does not verify NBA 2K27’s exact controls or menus.
A verified GosuNoob channel also published a video specifically about the NBA 2K27 Get Open Pass advanced training on August 28, 2026. Its available description identifies the demonstration but does not document its steps.
