What comes with the Standard Edition?
The base game only
Standard supplies the NBA 2K27 game itself and does not include the VC, boosts, passes, cosmetics, packs, or premium cards bundled with the higher tiers. It is the cleanest option if you prefer to earn or purchase in-game resources separately, do not play MyTEAM or MyCAREER heavily, or simply want the lowest entry price.

Where Standard is sold
On Switch 2, the Standard Edition is listed as a physical product only. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, you can choose a physical copy or a digital license. Steam is digital only. That makes Standard the only edition in this comparison that offers a physical Switch 2 version and the only tier with a disc or cartridge option across the supported platforms.
What comes with the Deluxe Edition?
100,000 VC
Deluxe includes 100,000 VC, NBA 2K’s in-game currency. The bundle is the main financial step up from Standard and is delivered with the digital edition rather than as a physical package.
MyCAREER items
The MyCAREER package contains:
- 25 units of each of six Skill Boost types.
- 25 units of each of three Gatorade Boost types.
- One two-hour 2XP coin.
- A Victor Wembanyama jersey.
- A Caitlin Clark jersey.
The boost quantities are fixed units, not an unlimited entitlement. Once used, additional boosts would have to come from the game’s normal systems. The 2XP coin is a timed item, so its benefit is tied to the period in which you activate it.

MyTEAM items
Deluxe also includes a starter package for MyTEAM:
- One full ’27 Series 1 Team Selection.
- One Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack.
- Five ’27 Series 1 Packs.
- One two-hour 2XP coin.
The MyCAREER and MyTEAM packages each list their own two-hour 2XP coin. All listed MyTEAM cards and packs in the edition materials are unauctionable, so they cannot be placed in the auction system for resale or exchange there.
What comes with the Ultra Edition?
Everything in Deluxe, plus 35,000 VC
Ultra contains the entire Deluxe bundle and adds 35,000 VC, bringing the stated total to 135,000 VC. The extra currency is the clearest difference between the two premium tiers, but Ultra’s value also comes from passes, cosmetics, and future MyTEAM content.

Season passes
Ultra includes the Season 1 Pro Pass and a Summer Pass covering Seasons 7–9. These are separate from the base game and are intended for players who expect to follow the game’s seasonal content. The edition description does not state that every future seasonal reward is included, so treat the passes as the specifically named entitlements rather than as an unlimited pass to all later content.
MyCAREER cosmetic
The Ultra package adds the Roses Oversize Hoodie for MyCAREER. It is a cosmetic item, so it does not replace the VC or boost quantities and does not expand the MyTEAM contents.
Scheduled MyTEAM cards
Ultra includes two named premium card entitlements:
- A guaranteed 98 OVR card scheduled for December 2026.
- A guaranteed Invincible card scheduled for May 2027.
Those dates are the schedule stated by 2K, not a promise that the cards are available immediately at purchase. They also matter if you are buying after the relevant season or event has passed: check the current platform listing and redemption status before assuming that a future-dated item can still be claimed.

The comparison is not a promise that the bundled VC or passes are worth a particular cash amount. Their usefulness depends on how often you play MyCAREER and MyTEAM, whether you would otherwise buy seasonal passes, and how much you value receiving resources at launch instead of earning them in-game. Because actual retail prices vary, calculate the upgrade at the price shown by your store rather than assuming the suggested price.

Physical versus digital editions
Choose Standard if you need a physical copy
The physical format is limited to Standard in the edition information supplied by 2K. Switch 2 buyers are specifically limited to physical Standard, while PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can select physical or digital Standard. If you share games, collect discs or cartridges, or want the option to resell a copy, this format distinction can outweigh the premium bonuses.

Deluxe and Ultra are digital-only purchases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. There is no listed physical Deluxe or Ultra package and no listed Switch 2 version of either premium tier. A buyer who owns multiple platforms should verify that the edition is attached to the intended platform account; a digital license normally does not create a separate entitlement on another platform unless the store explicitly says so.
Release dates and the early-access discrepancy
Standard launch
NBA 2K27 Standard access began September 4, 2026, according to NBA 2K Support’s edition FAQ.
Two different premium early-access dates
Official materials disagree about when Deluxe and Ultra early access began:
- The NBA 2K Support FAQ, updated September 7, 2026, lists August 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM PT.
- A 2K newsroom announcement lists August 28, 2026, at 9:00 AM PDT.
The FAQ is the later-updated source, but the conflict has not been silently reconciled in the published materials. If early access affects your purchase decision, use the date shown by the specific PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam listing and retain your receipt or order confirmation. Do not assume that a retailer’s “early access” label uses the same time zone or start date as another store.

What the discrepancy means now
Early access is a launch-period benefit. It cannot normally be recreated after the launch window, so a current buyer should evaluate Deluxe or Ultra for their remaining VC, passes, cosmetics, and MyTEAM content rather than paying solely for access that has already elapsed.
Availability, region, and the Ultra deadline
Countries named as unavailable for premium editions
The official FAQ says Deluxe and Ultra are unavailable in Belgium, South Korea, and Brazil. That restriction is stated for the premium editions; it does not establish that Standard is unavailable in those countries. Storefront rules can also change, so check the local platform page before attempting checkout.
Ultra was limited-time
2K’s FAQ listed Ultra as available through September 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. That deadline has passed as of October 15, 2026, the current date for this guide. A store may still show an Ultra listing, a code, or a residual promotion, but availability after the stated cutoff is not guaranteed by the FAQ. Confirm that the listing is legitimate and that every promised entitlement is still redeemable before buying a remaining code.

Requirements for bonus content
Redeeming and using the bonus content requires an internet connection and an NBA 2K account. That applies to the VC, boosts, 2XP coins, jerseys, MyTEAM items, season passes, hoodie, and scheduled cards bundled with the premium editions. A physical disc or cartridge does not remove those account and connection requirements.
Modes identified as playable offline
The 2K Store identifies Play Now, MyNBA, and The W as available offline. Other modes and features require an internet connection and may require account registration. This distinction is important for buyers who play while traveling or on a connection with data limits: owning the game offline does not mean every mode or bonus can be accessed without signing in.

- Install NBA 2K27 on the platform associated with your purchase.
- Connect the console or PC to the internet before opening the redemption or bonus-content screens.
- Sign in to, or create, the required NBA 2K account and link it as prompted.
- Allow the game to download entitlement data and any updates before judging whether VC, packs, passes, or cosmetics are missing.
- Keep the purchase receipt, platform order number, and account information available if an entitlement does not appear.
Which edition should you buy?
Buy Standard for the simplest, lowest-cost purchase
Standard is the logical choice when you mainly want to play the base game, prefer a physical copy, or do not expect to use the included premium resources. It is also the only listed option for a physical Switch 2 purchase. Players focused on offline Play Now, MyNBA, or The W should pay particular attention to format and price rather than assuming the premium bundles improve those modes.
Buy Deluxe for launch resources without the Ultra commitments
Deluxe fits players who will use VC and MyCAREER boosts immediately, want the two player jerseys, and plan to open the included MyTEAM packs and selection items. It gives you the largest one-time jump in launch resources without paying for the additional season passes, hoodie, and scheduled Ultra cards.
Buy Ultra only for sustained seasonal and MyTEAM play
Ultra makes sense when you expect to play across multiple seasons, would otherwise buy the named passes, and value the scheduled 98 OVR and Invincible cards. The additional VC is useful only if you will spend it, while the future-dated cards matter only to players who actively build MyTEAM rosters. Since the stated Ultra sales window has ended, any current offer requires extra verification of code validity and redemption rights.
Use this four-question decision test
- Do you require a disc or cartridge? If yes, select Standard where a physical version is listed.
- Will you use VC, boosts, packs, or passes? If no, the premium price buys benefits you may leave unused.
- Do you play MyCAREER or MyTEAM regularly? If yes, compare the immediate Deluxe bundle with Ultra’s seasonal and future card additions.
- Is the edition sold in your country and on your platform? Check this before comparing prices, especially in Belgium, South Korea, Brazil, and on Switch 2.
Purchase checklist before you pay
- Confirm that the listing says NBA 2K27, not an older annual release or a platform bundle.
- Verify PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, or Switch 2 compatibility.
