To unlock a dunk package in NBA 2K27, meet every requirement shown for that animation—usually a Driving Dunk rating, but some packages also require Vertical, Standing Dunk, or a qualifying height. Then buy and equip the eligible packages in Dunk Style Creator and select that custom style in Animations. Ratings unlock access; they do not automatically equip the package.
What ratings unlock NBA 2K27 dunk packages?
There is no single rating that unlocks every package. Driving Dunk is a common gate for moving dunks, while specific animations can add a Vertical threshold, Standing Dunk requirement, or height restriction. Check the full requirement for each package in the game or in the current NBA2KLab NBA 2K27 animation requirements table; an example for one animation is not a safe shortcut for another.

How to buy, equip, and select a dunk package
- Enter MyCAREER or The City and open Animations.
- Go to Gameplay Moves, then open Dunk Style Creator.
- Review the requirements for the package you want. Purchase it if your build qualifies and the package has a cost.
- Equip the package in the Dunk Style Creator and save the custom dunk style.
- Return to Animations and select that custom style. If another style is selected, your eligible packages may not be the ones your player uses.
Having enough VC does not bypass an attribute or height restriction. If the package is locked, check your build against every listed requirement; if it is already unlocked but your player uses different animations, verify that the intended custom style is selected.

Driving Dunk, contact dunks, and the Dunk Meter
Driving Dunk is a key requirement for many moving and contact dunk animations, but the exact rating depends on the package. Do not assume a universal contact-dunk threshold: check the specific contact package and any accompanying Vertical or height requirements in the current table or in-game details.
NBA 2K27 also includes a manually timed Dunk Meter, according to the official game-mode breakdown. Package eligibility and timing are separate: unlocking a dunk animation does not itself guarantee that a dunk attempt will succeed. 2K’s August 18, 2026 gameplay announcement describes the meter as “logic-driven,” which is the publisher’s characterization of the mechanic.

Why your player may still lay the ball up
- The build misses a requirement: Check Driving Dunk, Vertical, Standing Dunk, and height where the package lists them.
- The wrong style is selected: After equipping packages in Dunk Style Creator, return to Animations and select the custom style.
- The play may not produce a dunk attempt: The Dunk Meter is manually timed, so the animation package and the execution mechanic are distinct parts of play.
Which requirements should you trust?
Use the package details shown in your current game as the final check, especially after a patch.
