NBA 2K25 will stop being available for purchase on October 30, 2026, but existing owners will not lose access to the entire game. 2K says the game is discontinued as of December 31, 2026; online modes, including MyCAREER and MyTEAM, become unavailable on January 1, 2027. Offline modes will remain playable, and owners can still redownload the game, according to 2K Support.
NBA 2K25 delisting and shutdown dates
2K Support’s “NBA 2K25: Server Sunset,” published September 3, 2026 and updated October 2, 2026, sets out three distinct dates. The purchase cutoff, the stated discontinuation date, and the online-service shutdown are not the same event.

The game was released in September 2024, as reported by ComicBook.com. 2K Support’s opening announcement says: “There’s the final buzzer, it’s time for NBA 2K25 to be discontinued as of December 31, 2026.”

Owners can continue to redownload NBA 2K25 and play its offline modes after the online shutdown, according to 2K. The notice specifically names Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA as modes that remain available.

Features that require a connection to 2K’s servers will not continue to work. This includes multiplayer, Online Leagues, and community sharing. 2K’s announcement does not say that the whole game becomes unplayable.
Will MyCAREER and MyTEAM work after January 1, 2027?
No. 2K says MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available when online modes shut down on January 1, 2027. Players will also no longer be able to earn VC. The official notice does not promise continued access to these modes after that date.

What the purchase cutoff means
October 30, 2026 is the date 2K gives for the end of purchase availability. It is separate from the later end of online functionality: buying the game before the cutoff does not extend access to its online modes beyond January 1, 2027.
