For a manga-main-story watch of Naruto: Shippuden, skip the pure-filler episode ranges below and keep episodes marked mixed canon/filler. Mixed episodes may contain story material, so skipping them wholesale can leave gaps. Episode 28 is classified separately as anime canon: keep it for anime-original story, or omit it if you only want manga-adapted plot. The series has 500 episodes; filler totals vary by guide because classifications are not an official franchise ruling.

The list is useful as a skip map, not a judgment of quality. “Filler” here means anime-original material outside the manga’s main plot; a viewer may still enjoy those episodes or prefer to watch them for a fuller anime experience.

Mixed means an episode combines relevant manga-story content with anime-only scenes. The proportions can differ from episode to episode, but the practical choice is straightforward: if continuity matters, watch the whole episode rather than trying to remove individual scenes. The classifications do not provide a scene-by-scene edit guide.
Episode 28: anime canon, not filler
Anime Filler List labels episode 28 as anime canon, a separate category from pure filler and mixed canon/filler. It is anime-original material rather than an episode in the manga-main-story route. Keep it if you want anime-original story; skip it if your only goal is manga-adapted plot. This is a viewing preference, not a contradiction in the episode list: “anime canon” identifies its relationship to the anime’s continuity, while “manga canon” identifies material adapted from the manga.

Choose a watch route
| Route | What to watch | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Main-story fast route | Watch manga-canon and mixed episodes; skip the pure-filler ranges above. Decide separately whether to include anime-canon episode 28. | Viewers prioritizing manga-plot continuity and less viewing time. |
| Balanced route | Follow the main-story route, then add anime-original arcs that appeal to you. | Viewers who want the main plot but are open to character-focused side stories. |
| Completionist route | Watch all 500 episodes in order. | Viewers who want the complete series experience, including anime-original material. |
The labels answer whether material is part of the manga-derived plot; they do not settle whether an arc is entertaining or valuable. If you are undecided, try an optional arc when its premise interests you rather than assuming every filler episode is disposable. GamesRadar’s January 16, 2026 article recommends the Kakashi: Shadow of the ANBU Black Ops arc as an extra worth watching. That is an editorial recommendation, not a requirement for following the manga’s main plot.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhy filler totals differ between guides
Naruto: Shippuden ran from 2007 to 2017 and has 500 episodes. Anime Filler List’s episode table, updated September 3, 2024, reports 203 filler episodes, or 41%, and separately labels manga canon, mixed canon/filler, filler, and anime canon. Digital Citizen’s January 12, 2026 guide describes pure filler and mixed episodes separately and gives a figure of around 204 pure-filler episodes.

Those figures should be treated as guide-specific counts, not as a universally fixed total. Episode guides make classification choices about material that mixes adapted plot and anime-original scenes, and their category definitions may differ. For the viewing decision, the episode ranges and the distinction between pure filler and mixed episodes are more useful than treating one percentage as definitive. Episode 28’s separate anime-canon label is another reason not to collapse every non-manga episode into a single filler count.
How to use this list without losing your place
- Choose your goal. For manga-plot continuity, use the main-story fast route. For a broader anime experience, choose balanced or completionist viewing.
- Check the episode number before starting an episode. Skip only when it falls inside one of the listed pure-filler ranges. Ranges are inclusive.
- Keep mixed episodes intact. Their manga-related content is not separated here from their anime-original scenes.
- Make a separate choice about episode 28. Its anime-canon classification is distinct from the pure-filler list.
- Revisit skipped material if your preference changes. Skipping it for plot efficiency does not prevent watching it later as optional side content.
This approach is more reliable than using a single overall filler percentage to decide episode by episode: a percentage cannot tell you where a mixed episode falls or whether a guide treats anime-original material as filler or anime canon.

What the labels do—and do not—mean
“Manga canon,” “mixed canon/filler,” “filler,” and “anime canon” are practical labels used by episode guides. They help viewers decide whether an episode adapts the manga’s main plot, combines that plot with anime-only scenes, or consists of anime-original story. They are not an official franchise decree about what every viewer must regard as canon. Nor does a filler label mean an episode is necessarily bad, irrelevant to every viewer, or impossible to enjoy; it means it is outside the manga-main-story route used for this guide.

The cautious rule is to use pure-filler labels to save time, keep mixed episodes when continuity matters, and decide for yourself whether anime-original material is worth your time. That rule preserves the plot without treating optional content as a mistake.
