myQNAPcloud is QNAP’s broader portal and cloud ecosystem for managing NAS devices and sharing access; myQNAPcloud One is a paid storage plan. One provides a shared quota for two separate services—file-based myQNAPcloud Storage and S3-compatible myQNAPcloud Object. The quota is shared, but the services’ data and access methods are not interchangeable.

What each name refers to

Product What it is for How you use it
myQNAPcloud QNAP’s broader cloud portal and ecosystem for managing NAS devices and shared links. Manage devices and remote access through QNAP’s myQNAPcloud portal. myQNAPcloud Link is the relay service for remote access.
myQNAPcloud One A paid plan that supplies a storage quota shared between myQNAPcloud Storage and myQNAPcloud Object. Allocate the quota to either service according to your needs; each service has its own access methods and use cases. See QNAP’s myQNAPcloud One overview.
myQNAPcloud Storage File-based cloud storage positioned for NAS backup and cloud-drive use. Access through its portal or Qfile Pro, and use QNAP applications that support Storage. See QNAP’s Storage page.
myQNAPcloud Object S3-compatible object storage for object-storage workloads. Connect with compatible S3 API clients or supported QNAP applications; confirm the workflow for the specific app in QNAP’s current documentation.

These are different layers of QNAP’s offering, not competing names for the same feature. myQNAPcloud is the portal/ecosystem; One is a subscription plan, and Storage and Object are the storage services it can fund.

How One’s shared quota works

One quota can be divided dynamically between Storage and Object. QNAP’s One FAQ describes the arrangement this way: “With a 1TB of myQNAPcloud One, you get a shared storage pool that can be dynamically used by both myQNAPcloud Storage and myQNAPcloud Object.” The quotation is QNAP’s product description, not a claim that the services merge into one file system.

Storage and Object remain independent services. QNAP lists them as distinct providers in Hybrid Backup Sync and HybridMount, and data stored as Object is not browsable as Storage data. A shared quota means you can allocate capacity across both; it does not create a shared file namespace or let you open Object data through Storage’s portal or Qfile Pro.

Choose by workload and access path

Choose Storage for file-based NAS backup and cloud-drive access

If your goal is backing up files from a QNAP NAS or using cloud-drive-style access, Storage is the relevant service. QNAP describes Storage for NAS backup and cloud-drive use, with access through its portal or Qfile Pro. A compatible QNAP NAS is needed for the NAS-backup workflow; verify your model and the precise application steps with QNAP before configuring it.

Choose Object for S3-compatible workflows

If a workload expects object storage and an S3 API client, Object is the more relevant service. It is not simply another way to browse the files in Storage. Check current QNAP documentation for the supported client, application integration, and configuration details rather than assuming every S3-compatible workflow behaves identically.

Use myQNAPcloud and Link for device access, not as a storage plan

Device management, shared links, and remote access belong to the broader myQNAPcloud ecosystem. myQNAPcloud Link is the remote-access relay; neither the portal nor Link is the name of One’s paid storage quota.

Plans, regions, and claims to verify

Plans and prices vary by region and can change. When retrieved for this article, QNAP’s Canada pricing page displayed myQNAPcloud One from USD 8.39 per month for 1 TB. Treat that as a dated regional example, not a universal or guaranteed current price: check QNAP’s live Canada plans and pricing page or your own region before subscribing. That page also lists monthly and annual options and standalone Storage tiers.

QNAP TR-004 4 Bay USB Type-C Direct Attached Storage (DAS) with hardware RAID (Diskless)
  • Direct-attached storage device via USB Type-C for Windows, macOS and Linux
  • Use the TR-004 as external storage for NAS backup
  • Expand the capacity of your QNAP NAS
  • 4 x 3.5-inch SATA 3Gb/s (Diskless)
  • Hardware RAID supports RAID 0, 1, 5, JBOD, and individual disks

QNAP’s pricing material distinguishes the One plan’s Storage (Advanced) and Object features from the lower-tier standalone Storage plan. Limits for items such as activity monitoring, lifecycle rules, and version counts can differ; consult the live regional plan table rather than relying on an old feature comparison.

QNAP’s product material advertises 99.999999999% durability and 13 global regions/data centers. These are vendor-published claims, not independently verified measurements, and the live offering may change. QNAP also states that it charges no data-transmission or API-request fees for the applicable One services; confirm current terms and plan applicability on the official myQNAPcloud One Software Store page. Security, immutability, and durability features should not be treated as a guarantee against data loss or ransomware. Keep an independent backup appropriate to your risk.
