The useful takeaway is narrower: service menus are model-specific, and their white-balance controls may be intended for measured technician adjustments, not trial-and-error troubleshooting.
What a service menu can—and cannot—tell you
Unlike the standard picture menu, a service or factory menu may include technician-level controls for signal processing and panel alignment. A Samsung service-manual excerpt, for example, lists categories including ADC, white balance, video/scaler, enhancement and expert settings. That is an example from one manual, not a feature list shared by all TVs.

The available manuals do not identify the TV or original fault behind the headline, so they cannot establish what changed or why it helped. A service menu may contain a relevant control, but its presence alone does not show that changing it is an appropriate fix for a particular symptom.
Why there is no safe universal menu sequence
Service-menu access and layout depend on the exact model and chassis. The JVC TM-A210G service procedure documents its own menu operation and displays the warning “PLEASE, DON’T TOUCH!” That is the manual’s warning for its procedure, not a universal message or a control sequence for other televisions.

Do not apply an access code, button sequence or setting value found for another TV. First identify the complete model number—usually on the rear label or in the TV’s system information—and look for manufacturer documentation for that exact model. If the documentation does not explain the setting and the way to restore the original value, stop rather than experimenting.
White balance is a calibration task, not a general picture fix
White-balance controls adjust color channels so that white appears neutral. Their purpose and adjustment method vary by model; simply moving RGB values by eye can make the picture less accurate rather than solving the underlying issue.

The Philips 32PFL4507/F8 service manual says its white-balance adjustment is for LCD-panel or digital-main-board replacement. It describes mixing red and blue beams correctly for pure white and specifies use of a color analyzer. That is a procedure for that model and service context—not a universal instruction for owners or evidence that white balance was the setting involved in the headline.
A colorimeter or other suitable analyzer can be part of measurement-based calibration when the relevant procedure calls for one. It is not needed merely to open a service menu, and the information available here does not show that a meter would fix an unspecified picture problem.

Why technicians record existing values
Service settings can be specific to the individual TV. LG Electronics’ repair manual instructs technicians to record RGB gain and cut values for color-temperature presets before replacing a main board, then re-enter those values. The figures shown in that manual are examples for its service documentation, not recommended settings for other televisions.
This is a practical reason not to change values casually: a repair procedure may depend on preserving the set’s original configuration. If you have already changed a value, do not guess at a replacement. Consult the exact model’s documentation or a qualified technician, particularly if the picture has worsened or the original values were not recorded.

A safer way to approach a persistent picture problem
- Try ordinary picture controls first. Check the standard picture mode and settings relevant to the symptom. Record current values before making reversible changes so you can restore them.
- Identify the exact TV. Note the full model number and, where available, the chassis or regional variant. Similar model names do not establish that menus or procedures are interchangeable.
- Use only matching manufacturer documentation. Confirm what a service control does, whether the procedure applies to your model, and how to preserve or restore existing values. Do not rely on a generic code or settings copied from another set.
- Stop if the procedure calls for repair or measurement. Panel or main-board replacement, instrument-based white-balance adjustment, or undocumented values are reasons to use a qualified service professional rather than improvise.
