Noah Eyob describes an app concept built around a familiar problem: readers lose track of a book and ask someone for help. The project is meant to let them ask questions about the book they are reading, but Eyob says its AI model runs locally, so the hosted web app will not function as a usable public service.
What the app is meant to do
Eyob says the idea came from friends asking about a book when they got lost in it. The app’s central purpose is book-specific question answering: a reader selects a title and can ask about what is happening. The project description does not provide a sample prompt or answer, so it is not possible to assess how a typical exchange would work from the post alone.

How Eyob describes the implementation
The project is described as a MERN-stack application, with React on the frontend, Node.js and Express.js on the backend, and MongoDB for data storage. Eyob says titles come from Open Library, while selected titles and conversations are stored in MongoDB so conversations can be retrieved after they begin.

For answers, Eyob identifies the model as gemma3:1b-it-q4_K_M, integrated through Ollama’s API and run locally. Eyob says the smaller model was chosen because of limited storage on the computer, and that its answers were not as good as desired. That is the builder’s qualitative assessment; the post reports no benchmark or systematic accuracy evaluation.

Why it is not a working hosted demo
Eyob explicitly cautions that the hosted web app will not be functional because the AI model runs locally. The project write-up mentions screenshots and a GitHub repository, but those materials could not be verified from the available page. Accordingly, the post supports describing the project’s intent and reported design, not presenting it as a publicly usable app or verified demo.
What the project description does—and does not—establish
The post describes a project submission and names “Best Use of MongoDB Atlas” and “Best Use of Gemma” as prize categories. It does not say that the project won either category. It also does not report user testing, reliability results, reading-comprehension outcomes, or evidence that answers are accurate or appropriately grounded in a particular book.
