If a Muvi Live stream is not appearing on YouTube, first check where your encoder is sending its feed. Muvi’s RTMP URL and stream key are for sending video to Muvi; YouTube’s Live Control Room has separate event credentials and publishing controls. Confirm the destination, then troubleshoot that platform’s status, preview, and visibility settings.
First identify where the encoder sends the stream
Open your encoder’s stream settings and note the selected service, server URL, and which platform supplied the stream key. A Muvi stream preview, a YouTube Live Control Room preview, and a public YouTube watch page are different checkpoints; one working does not prove the others are working.

- Encoder sends to Muvi: use the Muvi RTMP steps below.
- Encoder sends directly to YouTube: use the YouTube Live Control Room steps.
- Muvi uses an external live feed: check that its configured HLS, RTSP, MPD, or SRT address points to an active real-time feed. Muvi says a playlist, recording, or VOD feed does not receive the Live indicator. See Muvi’s external live-stream guide.
The official Muvi and YouTube workflows describe separate ingest and publishing controls; they do not establish that starting a Muvi Live stream automatically publishes it to a YouTube channel. Check your Muvi dashboard or ask Muvi support whether your account has a separate relay or integration configured. Never treat a Muvi URL/key and a YouTube URL/key as interchangeable.

- In Muvi Content Management, open Content Library and select the intended live stream.
- Under Stream Info, copy that stream’s Stream URL and Stream Key into the encoder’s server and key fields. Muvi’s documented OBS example uses a custom service; use the equivalent custom RTMP settings in another encoder. Keep the key private.
- Confirm the encoder is using the intended video and audio sources and an appropriate server location, then save its settings.
- In Content Library, click Start for the Muvi stream and wait for its server to start.
- Then click Start Streaming in the encoder. Return to Muvi and check the preview and Live indicator.
Muvi recommends starting its on-demand live server at least two minutes before broadcasting and using a stable wired connection. Its separate quality guidance is not YouTube’s ingest specification; do not substitute Muvi’s illustrative bitrate suggestions for YouTube’s current settings. See Muvi’s OBS encoder instructions and Muvi’s quality-settings guide.

If the Muvi preview works but you expected YouTube
A working Muvi preview confirms that Muvi is receiving a feed; it does not by itself confirm YouTube ingest or publication. Check whether the encoder is actually sending to YouTube or whether a separate relay is configured. Muvi’s shareable link, HLS URL, and embed code are ways to distribute a Muvi stream, not substitutes for a YouTube encoder destination.
If an embedded Muvi player is missing
If the expected destination is a Muvi embed rather than a YouTube watch page, check whether embed-domain restrictions are enabled and whether the page’s domain is allowed. See Muvi’s embed-domain restriction guide.

If your encoder sends directly to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio, open the correct event in Live Control Room.
- Compare the encoder’s server URL and stream key with the credentials shown for that YouTube event. Do not use Muvi credentials here.
- Start the encoder and wait for the event preview and stream-health status in Live Control Room.
- For a scheduled encoder stream, click Go live after the preview appears. Sending an encoder feed is not necessarily the same as publishing the scheduled event.
- Check the event’s privacy setting: Public, Private, or Unlisted. Verify playback from the channel or event watch page and, if possible, from a mobile device or another account.
YouTube says a channel must be verified and not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. If the stream key may be stale or exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room; replace the old key in the encoder and keep the new one confidential. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance, encoder workflow, and stream settings and key guidance.

Use the platform’s status message to choose the next check
Read the exact error and inspect the destination platform’s preview and stream-health indicator before changing bitrate or buying equipment. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends refreshing the stream key for third-party encoder start errors. If a key refresh is needed, update the encoder with the replacement key for that event.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
- No incoming preview or encoder start error: verify the selected destination and event, server URL, key, and encoder’s output status. Check the specific platform’s message before changing unrelated settings.
- Preview appears but the stream is not viewable: check whether the scheduled YouTube event still needs Go live, confirm its privacy setting, and open the correct watch page.
- Video or audio in the preview is wrong: inspect the sources routed into the encoder, its output/error log, CPU load, and any local recording. A local recording can help distinguish a source problem from a delivery problem.
- Encoder output looks healthy but viewers on different networks have trouble: test the outbound upload connection for speed and stability. Download speed alone does not show whether the stream can be sent reliably.
- Dashboard information seems incomplete: use the actual event status, preview, and error message. An empty analytics panel is not proof that a stream is healthy.
When contacting support, record the exact status or error text, event type, encoder, and timestamp. Do not include a stream key in screenshots or public messages: YouTube treats it like a stream password. See YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guide.
Check network and encoding after confirming destination and credentials
For YouTube ingest, its current encoder guidance recommends H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom for the total stream bitrate. Check outbound upload capacity, not just download speed, and use the current YouTube bitrate table for the exact codec, resolution, and frame-rate combination rather than guessing or borrowing Muvi guidance.

Copyright and visibility checks before going live
A technically healthy feed can still be unavailable or interrupted for reasons unrelated to ingest. Confirm that you have rights to the video, music, and other material in the stream, and check YouTube’s event privacy and publication state. For prerecorded or looping content, assess whether the material and channel comply with YouTube’s policies rather than assuming that a successful encoder preview guarantees distribution.
