OBS runs on your computer, though, so you are responsible for the machine, internet connection, and monitoring. For a cloud-hosted YouTube-only option, StreamNeo keeps uploaded video running without a computer left on; for broader hosted event, library, and monetization features, Muvi Live is a different kind of platform.
Which alternative fits your YouTube looping needs?
These options are not interchangeable. OBS is a local encoder and production tool; Muvi Live describes a hosted streaming platform with a broader set of publishing features. StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live on YouTube. Choose according to where you want playback to run and what else the workflow needs.

| Option | Where playback runs | Looping and programming | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | In the cloud; YouTube only | Uploaded videos can run in 24/7 loops and playlists | A continuous YouTube stream without a computer running at home |
| OBS Studio | On the creator’s computer | Loop one local media file or loop and shuffle a VLC playlist | Local production control and a do-it-yourself stream |
| Muvi Live | Hosted platform, according to Muvi’s product descriptions | Muvi describes a video library and HLS playlist delivery; confirm the precise YouTube looping workflow with Muvi | Creators evaluating hosted event, library, recording, monetization, or multi-destination workflows |
Muvi describes features including recurring live events, encoder support, recording, live chat, apps, monetization, and infrastructure and security functions. It also says its event streaming supports social destinations including YouTube. These are Muvi’s descriptions of its own product, not independent performance measurements. OBS plays a local media file as a source; this is not a way to retransmit arbitrary videos from YouTube. Use a video you have the rights to broadcast. OBS’s documentation describes the source and looping controls, but does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 service or cloud failover. The steps below describe the general workflow; menu labels can vary by OBS version.

- 【Wide Compatibility USB Capture Card】 Easily streams to Facebook, Youtube or Twitch. With the connection, this HDMI to USB C/3.0 video capture devices can be working on several Operating Systems and various software: Windows 7/ 8/ 10, Mac OS or above, Linux, Android, Laptop, Xbox One, PS3/PS4/PS5, Camera, DVDs, Set Top Box, Webcame, DSLR, Switch/Switch 2, TV BOX, HDTV, Potplayer/VLC, ZOOM, OBS Studio etc.
- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
- Install OBS and prepare the video. Keep the media file accessible on the computer that will run the stream. If you plan to use a VLC Video source, install VLC first. OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for that source.
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes panel to select a scene or create one for the broadcast.
- Add one looping video. In Sources, click the plus button and choose Media Source. Select the local file and enable Loop so it starts again when playback ends. OBS documents that Media Sources accept local video and audio formats.
- Or add a playlist. In Sources, add VLC Video, build the playlist from local files, and enable Loop Playlist to restart it after the last item. Enable Shuffle Playlist only if you want randomized playback. If VLC Video is not available, check that VLC is installed and that its bitness matches OBS.
- Configure YouTube streaming. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the stream key using the available option in your version. Treat the key like a password; do not share it.
- Check output and start the broadcast. Use OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard if you need help selecting settings; it considers intended use, hardware resources, and network conditions. Review the video in the OBS preview, start streaming, then verify in YouTube Studio that the incoming feed is live and playing as expected.
- Keep the local workflow operational. The computer must remain on and connected, OBS must continue running, and someone must handle monitoring and recovery if the computer, network, or stream fails. Test your own setup before relying on a long broadcast.
OBS’s documentation for Media Sources explains file looping and VLC playlist controls. Its Sources Guide covers adding media and VLC sources, while the Quick Start Guide explains scenes, sources, and the Auto-Configuration Wizard.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode or use quality tiers. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card required, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or plan details. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

What to compare before choosing a hosted platform
If you are considering Muvi or another managed service rather than a local encoder, compare the actual workflow you need, not just the word “live.” The available product descriptions do not establish current parity, pricing, or service guarantees across providers.
- Playback workflow: Does the service accept uploaded recordings and support the exact continuous YouTube loop or playlist you need? Confirm this directly with the provider.
- Continuity: Ask what happens after an encoder disconnect, service restart, or destination-side interruption, and whether any uptime or recovery commitment is written into the plan.
- Production and destinations: Check whether you need only YouTube output or also recurring events, other destinations, a hosted library, or HLS playback outside YouTube.
- Operations and access: Determine whether recording, chat, apps, paywalls or ads, access control, and support are required, and which plan includes them.
- Rights and channel rules: Use content you are authorized to broadcast and review YouTube’s current live-stream and monetization policies. A technically successful loop does not establish that the content is permitted or eligible for monetization.
- Full cost: For OBS, account for the computer and connectivity as well as the free software. For hosted services, verify current plan limits, included storage, destinations, and billing directly; the product descriptions cited here do not establish a comparable current price.
Common problems and what to check
The video stops at the end instead of restarting
For a single file, check that Loop is enabled in the Media Source properties. For a VLC playlist, check Loop Playlist; looping one media source and looping a playlist are separate controls.

The stream goes offline when nobody is at the computer
A local OBS workflow depends on the computer and its internet connection remaining operational. If those cannot be left running and monitored, use a cloud workflow designed to play uploaded video instead of relying on the local machine.
