In HotHardware’s March 6, 2025 review, the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio’s position varied by workload: it edged past the RTX 4070 Ti in 3DMark Speed Way, fell behind that card in Steel Nomad, and faced strong competition from AMD’s Radeon RX 9070-series cards. The page also compares the cards in two VR-focused benchmarks. It reports relative results rather than exact scores in accessible text, so the comparisons are useful for understanding ranking—not for calculating performance gaps.
What the benchmark page covers
This is a focused account of Page 3 of HotHardware’s review, not a broad assessment of every aspect of the graphics card. The page reports four synthetic graphics and VR workloads: 3DMark Speed Way, 3DMark Steel Nomad, Unigine Superposition VR Future, and UL VRMark Blue Room. Its findings reflect the review’s test setup and should not be treated as fresh, independent testing.

How the MSI card compared in each test
| Benchmark | Workload described by the review | Reported comparison |
|---|---|---|
| 3DMark Speed Way | DirectX 12 Ultimate; default benchmark options | The MSI Gaming Trio’s slightly higher clocks let it pass the RTX 4070 Ti. AMD’s latest similarly priced cards finished well ahead. |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad | Non-ray-traced DirectX 12 workload | The MSI card trailed the RTX 4070 Ti but was a few percentage points ahead of the RTX 5070 Founders Edition. Radeon cards led again. |
| Unigine Superposition VR Future | VR-focused benchmark | The MSI card and Radeon RX 9070 traded places. |
| UL VRMark Blue Room | The review describes this as the suite’s most demanding test; it does not require a headset to be connected. | AMD’s latest Radeon cards extended their lead. |
These summaries come from Marco Chiappetta’s March 6, 2025 HotHardware review. In its Speed Way discussion, the review states: “In 3DMark Speedway, the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio’s slightly higher clocks allow it to overtake the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, whereas the Founders Edition could not.” That is a result from the review’s test, not a performance guarantee for every system or benchmark.

The comparisons point to benchmark-dependent rankings. The Gaming Trio’s clock advantage mattered in Speed Way, while Steel Nomad produced a different ordering against the RTX 4070 Ti. The VR results also differed between Superposition VR Future and VRMark Blue Room. A single synthetic test therefore cannot stand in for all graphics or VR performance.
#1 Best Overall
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4 OC mode: 2640MHz/Default mode: 2610MHz (Boost Clock)
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.125-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
The benchmark charts are embedded as images, and the accessible page text does not state exact scores or frame rates. That means the reported lead and relative placement can be discussed, but precise gaps cannot be calculated from the text. These results also do not establish how a particular game, resolution, or PC configuration will perform.

Check fit and power before buying
- Compare the card’s 338 × 140 × 50 mm dimensions with the space available in your case, including room for its width and airflow.
- Confirm that your PSU and cabling support the card’s single 16-pin connector and that the complete PC configuration is appropriate for MSI’s 650 W recommendation. That recommendation alone does not mean every existing PSU needs replacing.
- Account for the supplied support stand: HotHardware says one is included, so a separate GPU support stand is not automatically necessary.
