You can move selected iCloud data to a Samsung Galaxy with Smart Switch, but you cannot restore a complete iPhone backup onto it. Smart Switch imports supported items—such as photos, contacts, calendars, notes, and files—rather than reproducing the iPhone’s apps, settings, passwords, or all app-specific data.
What an iCloud-to-Galaxy transfer includes
Samsung’s Smart Switch iCloud option copies supported categories that are available in your Apple Account; it is not a full-device restore. Samsung lists contacts, calendar items, reminders, notes, photos or images, videos, and documents or files across its support guides. The categories offered can vary by transfer route, device, software version, and region, so use the list shown in Smart Switch on your Galaxy as the practical guide. Samsung’s US guide describes supported iCloud content and limitations.

- Apple passwords and Keychain data do not transfer through Smart Switch, according to Samsung Ireland’s instructions.
- Samsung’s US guide says some note presentation details—including fonts, formatting, and tables—are not supported.
- Samsung does not establish identical results for every iCloud Photos setup, optimized original, shared album, or file format. Check the destination library rather than assuming every item or presentation detail will match.
Before you start
Have your Apple Account credentials ready and make sure you can receive the verification code, such as through a trusted device or phone number. The content you want should already be available and synced in iCloud. Install or update Smart Switch on the Galaxy, then follow the prompts for your model; Samsung notes that menus can differ by software version. Samsung’s iCloud-import instructions require Apple Account sign-in and a verification step.

Import supported data from iCloud on the Galaxy
- Open Smart Switch on the Galaxy.
- Choose Receive data, then select iPhone/iPad as the source. Menu labels may vary.
- Choose the iCloud import option shown on screen.
- Sign in with your Apple Account and complete the verification step.
- Select the available content categories you want to bring over, then start the transfer.
Keep the Galaxy connected and follow its on-screen status. Samsung’s instructions describe the iCloud route as a selection of available content categories; they do not promise a fixed transfer time or identical coverage for every account.
When to use a direct iPhone transfer instead
If your iPhone is still available, Smart Switch also supports a direct transfer, which is separate from importing data from iCloud. A wired transfer may be useful when you want to move data directly from the phone; the required cable or adapter depends on the ports on both devices. This cable is not needed for iCloud import. Samsung also documents an updated wireless QR flow with a specific software requirement: iOS 26.6, Android 17, and One UI 9.0 or later. These versions apply to that updated QR flow, not necessarily to every Smart Switch transfer method. Check Samsung Malaysia’s current instructions and the prompts on both devices before choosing it.

Verify the Galaxy before retiring the iPhone
Before erasing, trading in, or disconnecting the iPhone, check the transferred data on the Galaxy. Compare contact counts and inspect calendar entries, reminders, notes, document folders, and representative photos and videos. Open a selection of files and images to confirm they are accessible and appear as expected. Keep the iPhone and its iCloud data available until you have checked what matters to you.
