Measure the route first, protect the floor, raise the leveling legs before moving, and check your exact model’s manual before removing parts or reconnecting power.
Before you move it, confirm the route and the model instructions
Measure the refrigerator and every part of the route: door openings, hallways, stairwells, turns, and overhead clearances. Include space needed to tilt or maneuver the appliance; a refrigerator that fits a doorway on paper may still be difficult to turn through it. Samsung’s Singapore support guidance also recommends measuring the space and notes that some models have a wheel feature, but how those wheels operate varies by model. Check your own manual rather than assuming the refrigerator can be moved by its wheels.

Look up the owner’s manual for the exact model before removing doors, drawers, shelves, or other components, or planning to move the refrigerator on its side or back. Designs and disassembly procedures differ. Samsung’s installation instructions for a Samsung-hosted Dacor refrigeration product provide useful general moving guidance, but they are not a substitute for instructions for your specific Samsung model.
Prepare the refrigerator and protect the floor
- Clear and secure the contents. Remove food and loose items that could shift. Secure the doors shut for transport, as Samsung’s installation instructions advise.
- Raise the leveling legs. Samsung’s U.S. leveling guide says to raise the legs into the refrigerator and off the floor before moving it to help prevent floor damage. Follow the model’s instructions for adjusting them.
- Protect delicate flooring. Samsung’s installation instructions recommend plywood, hard cardboard, or similar protection. Place protection along the route where the appliance and moving equipment will travel; avoid dragging the refrigerator across an unprotected floor.
- Arrange suitable equipment and help. Samsung’s instructions call for a suitable transport device, preferably an appliance dolly, and a minimum of two people. Check that the dolly’s rated capacity, support arrangement, wheels, and dimensions suit your refrigerator and route. A strap can help secure a load, but Samsung does not specify a particular strap or make one a model-wide requirement.
Move the refrigerator with controlled support
Samsung’s installation instructions say, “Always move the refrigerator in an upright position if possible.” Keep it upright and secured to the transport device while maneuvering. One person should guide and watch clearances while the other controls the load; do not attempt a move that exceeds the team’s strength or the equipment’s capability.

Use extra caution at thresholds, turns, and stairs. Confirm in advance that the dolly can safely handle the route, including any stair sections, and that the refrigerator can pass through each clearance. If the route requires tipping or a non-upright position, stop and consult the exact model manual before proceeding. The cited installation instructions say to move the appliance on its back if upright movement is not possible, but that direction applies to the product covered by that document and should not be assumed safe for every Samsung refrigerator.
For a difficult route, stairs, or a load you cannot confidently control, consider professional appliance movers. Before booking, ask about refrigerator-moving experience, the specific route and stairs, insurance, service area, and the written scope of service.

Set it in place and level it
Once the refrigerator is in its final position, remove the transport equipment without dragging the appliance. Use the model’s instructions to lower and adjust the leveling legs. Samsung’s U.S. guide identifies a carpenter’s level and flat-head screwdriver as tools for leveling; a Phillips screwdriver may be needed to remove a front leg cover. Whether a cover must be removed depends on the model.

Wait before reconnecting power
Do not treat one waiting period as universal. Samsung Gulf’s regional support article, last updated June 11, 2026, advises waiting at least 2 to 3 hours before plugging in after upright transport and at least 4 hours after transport on its side. Those are regional support instructions; check the owner’s manual for your exact model and follow its applicable guidance, particularly if the appliance was transported in a non-upright position.
