1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUsually, yes: you can move a removable physical SIM from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy if the Galaxy’s SIM slot accepts that card and the carrier supports the phone and your line. An eSIM cannot be moved as a plastic card; it must be transferred or activated through a supported carrier process.
Check compatibility before moving the SIM
- Identify the iPhone’s SIM type. If it has a removable tray and card, you have a physical SIM to move. Some iPhones and regional variants are eSIM-only; for example, U.S. iPhone 14 models and later have eSIM-only variants. Check Apple’s iPhone cellular service guidance for model and region details.
- Check the exact Galaxy model and region. Confirm its SIM format and whether it has a physical SIM tray. Samsung’s instructions for the Galaxy Z Flip5, Z Flip6, Z Fold5 and Z Fold6 specify a nano-SIM, but that guidance does not establish the SIM type for every Galaxy. See Samsung’s instructions for those Galaxy Z models.
- Confirm carrier compatibility. A card that fits may still not provide service. Samsung says an existing SIM can be used when it is compatible with both the network and the new phone. If service does not work, ask the carrier to check the exact Galaxy model or variant and your plan. The available guidance does not establish a universal unlock rule, so an unlocked phone or matching carrier alone is not a guarantee.
- Choose the right activation path. Use the physical card only if the Galaxy supports it. For an eSIM, check whether your carrier, devices, software and region support a transfer or a new activation.
Move a physical SIM safely
- Turn to the Samsung instructions for your exact model before opening the tray. Use a SIM-eject tool or the method specified in the device instructions; do not force the tray.
- Remove the tray and place the SIM in the correctly shaped position. Orientation varies by model. Samsung’s cited Galaxy Z instructions show a nano-SIM and specify contacts facing down for the shown Fold models. A reversed card or incorrectly positioned tray can damage the tray.
- Reinsert the tray fully, then restart the Galaxy or follow its setup prompts. Check whether the phone connects to the carrier.
- If the SIM is not recognized, remove and reseat it carefully. Samsung’s Galaxy A16 5G setup guidance recommends reseating when the SIM is not detected. If it still fails, contact the carrier with the phone’s exact model and your plan details.
Apple’s SIM tray guidance also advises aligning the card by its notched corner and reinserting the tray in its original orientation. If you do not know the SIM PIN, do not guess: an incorrect guess can permanently lock the SIM. Ask your carrier for help.

When the iPhone uses eSIM
An eSIM is a digital mobile-service profile, not a removable card. You cannot take it out of the iPhone and insert it into a Galaxy. Depending on the model, software, region and carrier, you may be able to transfer the eSIM directly or activate service on the Galaxy using carrier instructions or a QR code.
Apple’s iPhone or iPad to Android eSIM transfer guidance describes supported combinations and participating carriers; it also notes that completing a transfer deactivates the number on the source device. Samsung’s Australian instructions describe adding a plan or scanning a carrier-provided QR code through Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Add mobile plan on compatible devices. Samsung cautions that eSIM availability depends on model, region and provider; see its Galaxy SIM and eSIM guidance.
