1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsStart with access security and what the closed phone reveals, then decide whether Motorola’s shortcuts fit how you use the Razr Ultra. On the 2025 model, the external display, Power button, and gestures each have their own controls; the settings below are a short review, not a list of changes everyone needs to make. Menu wording can vary by software version, region, or carrier.
1. Set a screen lock
A screen lock protects access when the phone starts or wakes. Motorola’s documented path for the Razr Ultra 2025 is Settings > Security and privacy > Device unlock > Screen lock. Choose a pattern, PIN, or password. You can also set up fingerprint unlock after choosing a screen lock.

2. Check what appears on the external display
The cover screen has separate lock screen and home screen customization. Before relying on it for quick access, decide what should be visible while the phone is closed and locked, and which shortcuts you want close at hand.

Personalize the lock screen and home screen
Open Settings > External display > Lock screen or Home screen. Motorola documents options including wallpaper, font, accent color, lock-screen image privacy blur, and app shortcuts. Use the blur control if you want to obscure the lock-screen image; review shortcuts so the closed phone offers the apps you actually use.
Choose how the display wakes
Motorola also documents Sleep display options to wake the external display by tapping, lifting, or moving the phone, and the ability to turn Sleep display off. These are convenience preferences: choose the behavior that suits your routine rather than assuming one is best for everyone. See Motorola’s external display guidance.

3. Decide what the Power button should do
Motorola provides separate choices for a double press, press and hold, and sliding on the Power button. Double press can open the camera or do nothing. Press and hold can open a digital assistant, Moto AI, the Power menu, or perform no action. Sliding can control quick settings and notifications or zoom in Maps. Pick actions that are useful without disrupting controls you expect to find by habit.

4. Turn on only the gestures you want
Quick capture
Quick capture opens the camera when you twist the phone twice, including from the lock screen. With a screen lock set, Motorola says this launch gives access only to the Camera app; unlock the phone to view existing photos or use other features. To disable the gesture, go to Settings > Gestures or Moto > Actions, depending on the software labels on your device.
Other controls to review if useful
Motorola also documents gesture or three-button navigation, back-gesture sensitivity, one-handed mode, three-finger screenshots, and AI Key actions. These are personal usability choices, not required setup changes. If you often trigger a gesture by mistake, or want a different way to navigate or take screenshots, check the relevant controls in the phone’s gesture settings. Motorola’s Razr Ultra 2025 gesture support describes Quick capture and other options.

5. Find the battery controls without guessing at a fix
Motorola’s Razr Ultra help index lists guidance on extending battery life, preventing overcharging, and using Battery saver. The available documentation cited here does not establish a specific recommended configuration, exact menu path, or quantified battery-life improvement. Check the phone’s Battery settings or the Motorola Razr Ultra help topic index for the current instructions instead of applying a generic setting on the assumption that it will extend battery life.
