Moto Tag 2 is the physical tracker; Google Find Hub is the service and network that can help locate it. They work together rather than compete. If you knew the service as Google Find My Device, look for the current name, Find Hub, in Motorola’s guide and Google’s compatible-device information.
Is Moto Tag 2 compatible with Google Find Hub?
Yes. Motorola says Moto Tag 2 is certified to meet Find Hub accessory specifications, and Google includes it on its Find Hub compatible-device list. The tag supplies the hardware; Find Hub supplies the map and crowdsourced Android network used to help locate it.

Google’s list also includes trackers from brands such as Chipolo, Pebblebee and UGREEN. Compatibility does not mean every model has the same nearby-finding features: those depend on the tag and the phone being used, and availability and specifications can vary by region, carrier and device.

According to the Moto Tag 2 user guide, nearby finding can use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Ultra-wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Channel Sounding. Bluetooth supports basic connection and sound-based finding; more precise direction or distance features require compatible phone hardware and software.

UWB precision
UWB is not available on every Android phone. Motorola’s guide specifies a UWB-capable Android phone running Android 12 or later, with UWB enabled; availability varies by region. Motorola’s product page describes the requirement more broadly as an Android 9-or-later phone that supports UWB, with UWB enabled. In practice, check your phone’s specifications and regional support rather than assuming Android version alone is enough.
Bluetooth Channel Sounding
This is an additional conditional feature, not the baseline experience on every compatible handset. Motorola says it requires a supported Bluetooth 6.0 Android phone running Android 16 or later, with Channel Sounding support enabled.
How does Find Hub locate a lost Moto Tag 2?
When the tag is out of your phone’s Bluetooth range, participating Android devices can scan for nearby items. If one detects the tag, it securely reports the detection location to Find Hub. You can then use the service to view the reported location or last-known location and mark the tag lost so you can be notified if the network detects it again.

In short: the tag emits a Bluetooth signal, participating nearby phones can detect and relay its location, and you view the result through Find Hub. The sources describe Bluetooth-based detection and network reporting—not GPS built into the tag or a cellular connection. It is therefore not a standalone GPS tracker.
What does the Moto Tag 2 add beyond Find Hub?
The tag has functions separate from the network. Motorola says its button can ring a paired phone and act as a remote camera shutter, and the tag can share its location with trusted contacts. The separate Moto Tag app can show battery status, play a sound and update firmware; Motorola’s guide directs owners to Find Hub for the map and network location.
Battery and maintenance
Moto Tag 2 uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell. Motorola advertises more than 500 days of battery life, describing that figure as an approximate estimate based on a median user under optimal network conditions. Actual life can vary with temperature, battery condition, usage and other factors, so it is not a guaranteed interval. When replacement is needed, use a compatible CR2032 cell.

Privacy, alerts and requirements
Motorola says location data is encrypted and accessible only to the owner unless additional users are authorized. It also says Android phones support alerts when an unfamiliar tracker is detected moving with someone. That support does not mean every detection will produce an immediate alert.
Motorola lists these requirements for Find Hub: location services, Bluetooth, an internet connection, a supported Android phone, and availability in select countries for age-eligible users. Google likewise notes that compatible-device availability and features vary by region, carrier and device. Motorola’s product page has the product’s current specifications and stated requirements.
How large is the Find Hub network?
In its CES 2026 announcement, Motorola described Find Hub as a network of “more than a billion devices.” That is Motorola’s published characterization, not an independently verified network count. The practical point for a Moto Tag 2 owner is that remote finding depends on participating devices detecting the tag and reporting its location.
