Mortal Shell II has eight obtainable sidearms, and collecting the full set is required for the “Guns. Lots of Guns” trophy or achievement, according to PowerPyx’s 2026 guide. One is acquired in the prologue; the rest are pickups or rewards in locations across the game. The guides say you can return for any you missed after the final boss, as long as you collect them before starting New Game+.

This spoiler-aware route guide names optional dungeons, enemy encounters and bosses. Its order is a practical listing, not a guaranteed route through the game’s open world. The starting sidearm’s name is spelled differently by the consulted guides: PowerPyx lists “Nayleshotte,” while GameSpot lists “Naylshotte.” Check the in-game inventory for the current spelling.

Prologue: starting sidearm

Nayleshotte / Naylshotte

You acquire this sidearm at the start of the game during the prologue. GameSpot places it in the early prologue with the Harros shell. The spelling varies between PowerPyx and GameSpot, so use the inventory label as the authority.

Flooded Village: Forgotten Crossbow

Find the Flooded Village dungeon northwest of the Blackridge Pass beacon. You need the arc to open a boarded doorway and the Damp Key to enter the central building.

#1 Best Overall
Mortal Shell II - PlayStation 5
  • THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
  • CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
  • DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
  1. Enter the Flooded Village and use the arc to open the boarded doorway.
  2. Continue through the underground village. After the second elevator, look for a box beside a house and take the Damp Key.
  3. Use the key on the central building. The Forgotten Crossbow is on a table inside.

Route details are from PowerPyx.

Ravaged Hideout: Salvaged Trebuchaxe

The Ravaged Hideout lies south of the Gloomshade Grove beacon. A Bloodcursed Lithopod blocks access; defeat it, then follow the dungeon route to its final room. The Salvaged Trebuchaxe is on a body there. GameSpot also places this sidearm in the hideout after the boss encounter.

One Legged Wolf Tavern: Troubadour’s Lute

Reach the tavern southeast of the One Legged Wolf beacon. The Troubadour’s Lute is on the stage. Access from the Mushroom Village area may require clearing enough Ova-related corruption to open the route, according to GameSpot; PowerPyx identifies the stage as the pickup location.

Blackwell Cavern: Triarch Repeater

From Castigator’s Keep, reach the lower area and take the northward route toward the cavern near the cliff edge. The Triarch Repeater lies on the ground in the first lit area partway through the dungeon. GameSpot’s route also describes descending a cliffside path and using a wooden lift to reach the cave. See the routes from PowerPyx and GameSpot.

Sentry’s Grave: Ballistazooka

Sentry’s Grave is inside Lonesome Spire. From Gate of Mammon, follow the stairs and building route into the area. Defeat the Subjugated Guardian at the end; the Ballistazooka is awarded automatically, rather than collected as a ground pickup. PowerPyx describes this reward route.

Revered Beacon dungeon: Cursed Child

From Sester’s Gate, head to the ledge by the rolling enemy and enter the Revered Beacon dungeon. The damaging light is the main hazard: it hurts you when it sees you.

  1. Move through the area toward the tower, using cover and timing to avoid the light.
  2. Attack the tower’s central pillar to stop the damaging light.
  3. Collect the Cursed Child once the hazard is disabled.

GameSpot also describes entering by the bell and lower abbey route. The dungeon and pillar details are covered by PowerPyx and GameSpot.

Chamber of Becoming: Caged Hystrix

Go southeast of the Silent Steps beacon to Sariel’s arena. This route includes two fights with Sariel and a final-room task that prevents his revival.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Defeat Sariel in the arena, then follow him into the Chamber of Becoming.
  2. Defeat him again in the chamber.
  3. Break all four tombstones in the final room so Sariel cannot revive.
  4. Collect the Caged Hystrix near the dungeon exit after the fight and memory sequence.

The route and pickup location are described in the PowerPyx and GameSpot guides.

Can you return for missed sidearms?

Yes. PowerPyx says none of the eight sidearms are missable before New Game+: you can collect any you missed during free roam after the final boss, before choosing to begin New Game+. Merrick in Marrow Keep sells maps that mark approximate overworld locations; buying them is optional. The maps indicate general areas, so they do not replace the dungeon and access directions above.

What the guides establish about the collection

PowerPyx counts eight obtainable sidearms and ties collecting them all to the “Guns. Lots of Guns” trophy or achievement. GameSpot reports sixteen weapons across its combined melee-weapon and sidearm scope; that figure is not a sidearm count. Neither consulted guide provides a consistent, verified damage-stat comparison across all eight, so this is a location guide rather than a ranking.

Mortal Shell II is a standalone action RPG by Cold Symmetry, published by Playstack. Steam lists its release date as August 20, 2026, and the official site describes its interconnected world and sidearms as part of its combat options. See the Steam listing and official Mortal Shell site.
