In Mortal Shell II, the Slayer Seal is an optional easier combat mode rather than a setting in an Easy/Normal/Hard menu. Find it at the Magnificent Seat in Marrow Keep, then choose whether to equip it: guides report that doing so disables trophies or achievements for that save. If preserving completion eligibility matters, collect the Seal if you want, but leave it unequipped.

Picking up the Seal is distinct from equipping it. Fan guides say collection itself does not trigger the achievement penalty; the reported lockout begins when you equip it. Read the confirmation prompt carefully before proceeding.

Does equipping it disable trophies or achievements?
Reviewed guides report that equipping the Slayer Seal disables trophies or achievements on that save, and that removing the Seal later may not restore eligibility. The persistence claim is not confirmed here by official platform documentation, so treat the warning as permanent in practice: do not equip it on a save you intend to use for achievement or trophy completion. Check the in-game confirmation text before accepting.

The distinction matters: the guides describe collecting the item as safe, but equipping it as the consequential choice. If you want to try the altered combat mode without risking a completion save, use a separate save if the game permits one.

Why Slayer mode has an achievement lockout
Cold Symmetry co-founder and game director Andrew McLennan-Murray described an original plan for Slayer Seal as an alternate mode with its own mutually exclusive achievements. In comments relayed by a Reddit post, he said the console achievements had already been defined and locked months before the disc and digital versions were due to ship, so the team decided to lock achievements at some point. The original interview transcript was not verified; the explanation should be understood as a quotation relayed by that post, not a directly checked interview record. Choose the right save before equipping
