If Mortal Kombat 9 DLC is installed but not appearing in RPCS3, first check that it matches your game’s title ID and region, then confirm the package and any required PSN license were installed correctly. Also check whether your edition already includes the content and where it should appear in-game. The available documentation supports these checks, but does not identify one universal fix for every MK9 DLC problem.
1. Identify your game’s edition and title ID
“Mortal Kombat 9” can refer to different PS3 releases. Check the serial or title ID shown for your own game entry in RPCS3 or on your dump; do not rely on the display name alone. The RPCS3 Wiki’s Mortal Kombat page lists these IDs:

| Release | Disc IDs | PSN IDs |
|---|---|---|
| Mortal Kombat (2011), standard release | BLES01132, BLUS30522 | NPEB00847, NPUB30668 |
| Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition | BLES01508, BLUS30902 | Not stated by the RPCS3 Wiki page |
Use the ID to establish which release you have before troubleshooting. A package meant for a different release or region is a sensible early compatibility check, rather than something to address by repeatedly reinstalling the same files.
2. Check region compatibility
RPCS3’s Quickstart guide says title updates must match the title’s region and cautions against mixing regions. WB Games likewise explains that PlayStation add-on content is associated with a regional Store and advises matching the physical disc’s region to the account region in its DLC and add-on access guidance.

- Mortal Kombat: Armageddon PS2
These are strong reasons to check that your game and DLC are for compatible releases and regions. They do not establish that every DLC package follows an identical technical rule, so use the package’s own release and region information where available rather than assuming a match from the game name.
3. Install the package and license through RPCS3
For package content, the RPCS3 Quickstart documents two installation methods: use File > Install Packages/Raps/Edats and select the .pkg, or drag the package into the emulator window. The guide’s menu labels may change in later builds.

If the content is a PSN item that requires a RAP license, the same guide documents installing it through that installer or placing the RAP file in dev_hdd0/home/00000001/exdata/. This instruction is specifically about PSN RAP files; it does not mean every disc-game DLC package needs a RAP. Use game data and licenses you are legally entitled to use; the Quickstart says game data should come from your own legal dump.

4. Check whether your edition already includes the DLC
Edition differences can explain why one player expects a separate install while another has content available on the disc. WB Games says the physical PS3 Komplete Edition includes 15 classic skins and four DLC playable characters on the game disc. Standard Edition owners who never purchased the DLC may still be able to purchase add-on content through the PlayStation Store on a PS3 console, according to the same WB Games article.

- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
For content you previously bought, check the PS3 account’s Download List at PlayStation Network > Account Management > Transaction Management > Download List. WB Games says purchased items appear there with a Download button, and notes that later Season Pass releases may appear elsewhere in the list. This checks an account’s purchase or download entitlement; it does not establish that any particular item is currently for sale or available to redownload.
5. Look in the right in-game menu or location
An installed add-on may not appear immediately in the part of the game you are checking. PlayStation Support notes that extra content can unlock in a particular part of a game, after a checkpoint, or at a specific location. That is general PlayStation guidance, not confirmation of a particular Mortal Kombat 9 unlock condition. Check relevant character, skin, or other content menus and progress to the point where the item is expected to become available.

6. Use the RPCS3 Wiki’s game notes as context
The RPCS3 Wiki currently lists no known issues for Mortal Kombat and recommends Auto framelimit, noting that game speed is affected when the limit is set above or below 60 FPS. This is a community-wiki listing, not a guarantee that every individual DLC package or setup will work. It also does not document an MK9-specific install order or setting that fixes missing DLC.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPlayStation Support’s current add-on troubleshooting article describes PS4 and PS5 menu workflows, so those console-specific steps should not be treated as RPCS3 or PS3 instructions. Use it only for the general point that downloaded content may require in-game progression or a particular location.
Run through the checks in order
- Note your game’s title ID in RPCS3 or from your dump, and determine whether you have the standard disc release, a PSN release, or Komplete Edition.
- Compare the DLC’s release and region with your game. Check compatibility before trying another installation.
- Install the
.pkgin RPCS3 using File > Install Packages/Raps/Edats or drag-and-drop. If it is a PSN item requiring a RAP, install that license using the documented route too. - Relaunch the game and check the relevant menus, unlock locations, or progression points.
- Check edition and entitlement: physical Komplete Edition includes the stated skins and characters on disc; for previously purchased add-ons, consult the PS3 account’s Download List.
If these checks do not explain the problem, the available documentation does not establish a single universal MK9-specific fix. Avoid assuming that a particular install order, emulator setting, or license file is required unless the package or a reliable source for that exact release says so.
