Andy Schelb introduced it on September 23, 2026, as a fork of Daily Doodle, the prompt generator on the Disco Doodle hobby site. The article describes a way to get past the blank page by spinning for monster features and turning the resulting idea into a doodle.
What Monster Maker generates
The generator builds a monster description from feature categories. Schelb’s article lists eyeballs, horns, skin texture, arm style, eyestalks, and patterns, alongside a mood dial that can make the creature silly, scary, or sleepy. The idea is to combine those choices into a starting point for your own drawing.

Beginner and advanced modes
Beginner mode
Beginner mode uses three core categories: eyeballs, horns, and skin texture. That smaller set offers a straightforward way to start without needing to consider every feature at once.
Advanced mode
Advanced mode adds more categories, including arms, eyestalks, and patterns. The article does not specify a complete control list or explain whether users can customize individual category options.
How to use a prompt as a drawing exercise
- Spin for a monster prompt using the generator as described in Schelb’s article.
- Use the generated description as a starting point, not a requirement to draw every feature literally.
- Sketch the monster on a post-it or another convenient surface. Basic drawing supplies such as pencils or colored pencils are optional; the article does not endorse a particular brand or material.
- If you want to share your work, the article suggests submitting art to the Doodle Gallery.
Sharing prompt cards
Schelb’s article also describes a share control that turns a prompt into a downloadable PNG card with a small watermark. That is a feature reported in the article, not a confirmation of current live behavior. The article does not establish current availability, terms, or privacy practices for either generator, so check the site before relying on the feature or uploading work.

What is known about the project
Schelb presents Monster Maker as a hobby project built by reusing the Daily Doodle engine and adding a monster-specific sentence builder and a prompt-card sharing feature. The article also recounts an implementation using separate visitor-counter keys in Firebase Realtime Database and a tutorial-video workflow. Those details are the author’s account of how the project was built; they are not an independent security review or product test.

Because the live site and its current terms were not independently verified, treat those details as the author’s description rather than a guarantee about present availability.
