Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. Nintendo has announced cross-platform online multiplayer, but its reviewed announcements do not specify frame rate or resolution, list every cross-play pairing, or confirm that saves can transfer from PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox to Switch 2.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds support cross-play on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo says the Switch 2 release supports cross-platform online multiplayer. Nintendo of America describes it as “full cross-platform multiplayer support,” while Nintendo Japan says online multiplayer supports cross-play among multiple platforms. However, the reviewed announcements do not enumerate the supported platform pairings, so they do not establish which specific combinations of Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox players can join each other. They also do not detail account requirements, matchmaking restrictions, or cross-play settings. Check for updated game-specific guidance closer to release.

Nintendo’s listing specifies one to four players online and local wireless play for up to four players. It also lists single-system play for one player. Those player counts describe supported play configurations, not a guarantee that every online group can mix platforms. See Nintendo Australia’s product listing.

How does Monster Hunter Wilds run on Switch 2?
Nintendo’s reviewed product information does not state a frame-rate target, resolution, graphics modes, or a performance comparison for this version. That means there is not enough official game-specific information here to say whether it runs at 30 or 60 frames per second, what resolution it uses, or what visual trade-offs it makes. The existence of a Switch 2 version and its supported play modes do not establish those specifications.
The listing does confirm TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, but that is not a statement about image quality or performance in any one mode. For now, treat specific frame-rate and resolution claims as unverified unless Capcom or Nintendo publishes details for the Switch 2 game.

Can I transfer my Monster Hunter Wilds save to Switch 2?
A transfer from PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox to Switch 2 is not confirmed in the Nintendo material reviewed. Keep these three separate features in mind:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Save Data Cloud: Nintendo’s Switch 2 product listing marks the game as supporting Save Data Cloud, and says a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for that service. This is a cloud-backup listing; it does not establish that a save from another platform can be imported.
- Local transfer between Nintendo consoles: Nintendo Support describes moving save data from a Nintendo Switch to a Switch 2 for compatible software. Both consoles need internet access, and the same Nintendo Account must be linked to users on both consoles. The save is moved and deleted from the source console, rather than copied. The general instructions do not confirm that Monster Hunter Wilds supports a particular transfer route. See Nintendo Support’s local save-data transfer instructions.
- General Switch 2 system transfer: Nintendo’s guide says certain save data and compatible games can move to Switch 2, with compatibility varying by game. It does not confirm a Wilds-specific transfer path. See Nintendo’s Switch 2 transfer guide.
In short, cloud backup and Nintendo-console save transfers are not evidence of cross-platform progression. The reviewed official information does not say whether a Wilds save can move from another platform to Switch 2.

What are the Switch 2 play modes and download size?
Nintendo Australia’s listing gives TV, tabletop, and handheld modes; one player on a single system; one to four players locally over wireless; and one to four players online. It estimates the game file size at 39.0 GB. That is a regional product-page estimate, not a final install-size guarantee; check the listing again nearer release. Nintendo says online play and Save Data Cloud require Nintendo Switch Online. See the Nintendo Australia listing.
