But those announcements cannot tell us whether its combat will feel precise or perform well on real devices. That verdict has to wait for hands-on play.
When does Monster Hunter Outlanders launch, and what will it cost?
Capcom has scheduled Monster Hunter Outlanders for iOS and Android on October 29, 2026. It is a separate mobile entry, not an already available port of a console game. TiMi Studio Group is the developer, and Capcom describes the genre as survival hunting action. The game is announced as free-to-play with in-app purchases. Explore alone or hunt in a squad
The App Store and Google Play listings describe Aesoland as a new setting for exploration. Players can explore solo or form a hunting squad of up to four players. The listings also advertise original Adventurers, Buddies and exclusive monsters. These are announced features, not independently verified gameplay findings. App Store listing · Google Play listing

The listings name seven weapon types: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. They say each weapon pairs with Adventurers and adds new follow-up moves. That suggests an attempt to retain recognizable weapon identities while adapting them to this game, but the listing does not establish how those moves work in practice or how much depth each weapon offers.

Will the controls preserve Monster Hunter’s combat?
Capcom says the controls are optimized for mobile devices. Its September 29, 2026 announcement describes them this way: “Controls optimized for mobile devices also provide an accessible yet highly flexible hunting experience.” The App Store calls them portable controls. These statements explain the design intent; they are not evidence that touch controls feel precise, that combat retains the depth players expect, or that the interface remains readable during a hunt. The adaptation will have to answer practical questions that store copy cannot: whether attacks and evades are easy to execute under pressure, whether monster movements and combat effects remain legible on a small screen, and whether hunts fit the way people use phones. Device heat, battery consumption and performance also need to be assessed in play. None of those outcomes is established by the announcements, so a verdict on feel and performance awaits hands-on testing.

What is known about purchases?
Capcom confirms in-app purchases for the free-to-play game. Google Play labels it Teen and flags “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items).” The available listings do not explain what can be purchased, the prices or odds, how purchases affect progression, or whether they affect combat balance. Requirements published for the third closed beta test were an iPhone XR or newer running iOS 17 or later, or an Android device with Snapdragon 845 or newer running Android 12 or later. Capcom said device evaluation and performance optimization were still underway in that beta notice. Those beta requirements are not a final launch compatibility list or a guarantee of performance. Who should be watching?
Monster Hunter fans curious about a mobile-first take have concrete reasons to follow Outlanders: its announced lineup combines solo exploration, four-player hunts, recognizable weapon categories and new characters and monsters. The franchise has substantial reach—Capcom reported 131 million cumulative Monster Hunter series unit sales as of June 30, 2026—but that figure says nothing about how well this particular game translates to a phone. The deciding evidence will come from playing it: control precision, combat readability, hunt depth, solo and co-op flexibility, and how reliably it runs on supported devices. Until those questions can be tested, Outlanders is a promising proposition rather than proof that Monster Hunter’s deliberate hunts work on mobile.
