Use 1x when you want to limit dice spent per roll or have no specific event reward worth pursuing. Consider 5x or higher only when the active event scales a reward you want and you can afford the larger cost of an unproductive roll. A multiplier changes the stakes; it is not a way to steer the dice toward a particular tile.
What the multiplier changes
A multiplier increases the stake or reward attached to a roll. Scopely’s official support guidance describes High Roller as a time-limited event in which higher multipliers can win larger rewards, with the maximum setting limited by the player’s available roll balance. Event effects can differ: Scopely event materials describe multipliers affecting flag collection in Racers and the amount gained from board tiles in partner events. Check the live event’s rules before rolling, because event structures and reward mechanics can change.

That means a higher setting can accelerate progress toward a relevant event reward, while also increasing the dice exposure of each roll. The available official material does not establish a universal balance threshold for switching from 1x to 5x or higher.

Check these things before raising the multiplier
- Event objective: Identify the specific reward you are pursuing, then confirm in the live event that its progress or payout scales with the multiplier.
- Dice balance: Decide how much of your available balance you are willing to spend if several rolls do not produce the event progress you want.
- Remaining attempts: Compare the possible event progress with the number of higher-stake rolls your balance can support.
- Risk tolerance: If a larger loss would interfere with your play, stay at 1x rather than increasing the stake in anticipation of a favorable roll.
Do past rolls predict the next result?
No verified strategy in the available official material shows that a streak, a pause, or a token’s position can predict or change the next roll. In a May 15, 2025 dev note, Scopely’s MONOPOLY GO! Game Integrity Team says the game uses a pseudorandom number generator and gives each roll a unique seed. The team states: “Each roll starts with a Unique ‘Seed’: This ensures that every roll is independent of the previous one and prevents any patterns or predictability.”
Scopely also reports that it commissioned an independent analysis by Trail of Bits and describes that firm’s verdict as fair, random, and unbiased. That characterization is Scopely’s account of the analysis; it should not be mistaken for a direct quotation from Trail of Bits. The practical implication is that choosing a multiplier changes the size of the stake or reward, not the demonstrated odds of landing on a chosen tile.

How does the multiplier work?
It scales the stake or reward associated with a roll. Its effect on event progress depends on that event’s rules: official Scopely event materials describe multiplier effects for Racers flag collection and partner-event board-tile gains. Check the current event in the app rather than assuming the same scaling applies everywhere.
