The checker helps identify local territory restrictions, but national and event-specific rights can block individual games too. MLB.TV is primarily an out-of-market service, so a subscription does not guarantee live video of your local club.
How MLB blackouts work
MLB says live streaming availability depends on the game date, your viewing location, and local, regional, national, and international broadcast exclusivities. A blackout can therefore apply even when you have an active MLB.TV subscription.

Home television territory restrictions apply whether a team is playing at home or away, and whether or not the game is actually televised in that territory. Some U.S. clubs’ home territories may extend beyond the United States. MLB identifies one specific international exception: all live San Francisco Giants and Athletics games are blacked out in Guam. That does not mean the same restriction applies to all viewers outside the U.S.

How to check a game by ZIP code

Open MLB’s MLB.TV subscription page and enter the ZIP code for the place where you intend to watch—not simply your home address if you will be somewhere else.

Check the specific game as well as the team. The ZIP-code checker addresses local territory restrictions, but a national broadcast, special event, or postseason arrangement can affect an individual game separately. Consult the game listing and MLB’s current unavailable-games information for the event you want.

Confirm which app and package apply in your market. For the 2026 season, U.S. customers can purchase and stream MLB.TV through the ESPN app. U.S. MLB.TV subscribers can also stream through the MLB app by linking their accounts. The ESPN arrangement covers out-of-market MLB.TV games subject to blackouts.

Why a checker result may not match your location
A location-verification error is not necessarily a contractual blackout. MLB says live viewing uses location checks, and its support guidance lists disabled location services, weak GPS visibility, and some cellular, hotspot, satellite, hotel, corporate, or VPN network connections as possible causes of failed verification.

If GPS visibility is poor or you are on a hotspot or restricted network, try a different network or a location with a clearer GPS signal.

What you can watch when live video is blocked
Archive after the game
MLB says a blocked game becomes available as an archived game approximately 90 minutes after it concludes. This is delayed viewing, not a way to watch the live video.
Live audio
MLB’s Terms of Use says live audio for unavailable games is included with MLB.TV, and its help article describes live home and away radio broadcasts as available without blackouts. Audio is an alternative to blocked live video.

MLB Network telecasts
MLB Network is a separate option for eligible pay-TV subscribers. MLB says authenticated streaming is available to subscribers of most major U.S. pay-TV providers, while regular-season MLB Network game telecasts are generally subject to local blackouts. Its FAQ says MLB Network postseason game telecasts are available in the U.S. and Canada without local blackouts. Check your provider access and the specific telecast.
What MLB.TV includes in 2026—and what it does not
For the 2026 season, MLB describes MLB.TV as available for purchase and streaming through ESPN in the U.S., with account linking for access through the MLB app. The ESPN app’s supported-device list includes Roku; verify that your particular device is supported before buying. MLB.TV remains an out-of-market service subject to blackouts, not a universal package for every local club and game.
There is no single in-market viewing package established for every team and location. When comparing legitimate viewing options, check whether a package carries your in-market club or only out-of-market games, whether the particular game is blacked out, which app and devices work in your market, and whether the available option is live video, an archive, or audio.
