Neither Miro nor Mural is universally better. Mural puts facilitation tools for guided workshops front and center; Miro positions itself as a broader visual workspace for product planning, technical diagrams, and prototyping. Choose by testing the workflows your team actually repeats, then compare the access, integrations, and controls available on the plan you would buy.
How do Miro and Mural differ?
The clearest distinction is emphasis, not a strict division of capabilities. Mural documents workshop-focused tools such as voting, timers, private mode, and facilitator controls. Miro describes its workspace as supporting work beyond workshops, including product briefs, planning, wireframing, prototyping, and technical diagramming. Those broader claims come from Miro’s own comparison page, so treat them as product positioning rather than an independent finding. Mural’s feature overview and Miro’s comparison are useful starting points.

That does not mean Mural is only for workshops: its product information also describes templates, tables, mind maps, and diagrams. Nor are facilitation controls exclusive to Mural; Miro lists such controls on paid plans. The useful question is which product’s tools and plan limits fit your team’s actual session or project flow.

Choose based on facilitated workshops
If a facilitator regularly guides participants through structured activities, examine Mural’s documented workshop features: timers, voting, private mode, summoning, outlines and instructions, laser pointer, hide and reveal, facilitator lock, and flexible canvas options. Test a real session with the people who will attend, including any external participants. Check that the controls you need are on the plan you would use. Mural’s plan details and product overview describe its current offering.

Choose based on work beyond workshops
If the same workspace needs to support product planning, technical diagrams, or collaborative prototyping, test those tasks in Miro. Miro presents these as supported workflows on its comparison page; that is a vendor-authored description, not proof that Miro performs them better. Mural also offers diagrams and other visual-work tools, so compare a representative deliverable in both products rather than deciding from category labels alone.
Compare AI by task and plan
Mural describes AI uses including clustering sticky notes, generating mind maps, classifying sentiment, and summarizing. Its July 2026 release notes said a guided AI experience was rolling out in phases and that AI was available on Team+, Business, and Enterprise. Miro advertises AI across its plans, with allowances that differ by plan. Availability and limits can change; verify them for the account and region you would purchase. See Mural’s release notes, Mural’s product information, and Miro’s pricing page.
How do Miro and Mural pricing compare?
The figures below are USD prices displayed on the vendors’ official pricing pages and checked on October 7, 2026. Prices, plan names, features, and regional availability can change; confirm the linked pages before buying. Annual and yearly billing labels reflect each vendor’s wording.

These are not like-for-like plan tiers: plan names and included capabilities do not align exactly. A lower displayed price does not establish lower total cost for your use case. Compare the number of members, guest and visitor access, editable-board limits, private collaboration, required integrations, AI access, and security controls on the plans you would actually consider.
What should you verify before choosing?
Integrations and the handoff to other tools
Mural lists integrations including Microsoft Teams, Asana, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Figma, Google Workspace, Jira, Microsoft 365, Okta, and Rally. Miro’s comparison page claims a broader native ecosystem, but that is Miro-authored marketing. For the apps your team depends on, verify the exact integration, whether information syncs in the direction you need, which administrators can control it, and what plan is required. Review Mural’s integrations and Miro’s comparison page.

External collaboration and governance
Check how each plan handles guests and visitors, private spaces or rooms, identity management, data residency, audit capabilities, and the security requirements set by your organization. Both vendors advertise enterprise controls, but similar feature names do not establish equivalent behavior or coverage. Confirm specific requirements with the relevant plan details and procurement or security teams. See Miro’s pricing page and Mural’s pricing page.

- Write down the recurring job. Pick a real workshop, planning exercise, diagram, or prototype—not a generic list of features.
- Build the same sample in both products. Include the participants, facilitation steps, and handoff to other tools that matter in normal use.
- Test collaboration and administration. Check who can edit or view, how private work is handled, and whether your required governance controls are available on the plan under consideration.
- Compare the actual plan costs and limits. Use your expected member count and required integrations, AI functions, and external access. Recheck prices and availability on each vendor’s pricing page because they can change.
The official product pages establish the vendors’ listed features and prices, but they do not establish an independent performance winner. The decision is best made by checking your team’s actual workflows and plan requirements rather than relying on a universal ranking.
