Mint Mobile Deal: $10/mo for Unlimited Data, Explained

Mint Mobile's Unlimited offer works out to $10 a month, but it is a $60 upfront payment for six months, taxes extra, for new customers only. Here is what the terms mean.

Partly. Mint Mobile’s Unlimited plan page advertises a limited-time introductory offer for new customers: six months at an equivalent $10 per month, paid as one $60 upfront payment. It is not a $10 monthly bill, taxes and fees are extra, and the discounted price applies only to the first six months. The offer page, reviewed October 8, 2026, does not list an end date, so confirm it is still live before you buy.

What the $10 figure actually means

Mint’s offer page uses this wording for the promotion: “Upfront payment of $60 for 6-month plan (equiv. $10/mo.) req’d.” The $10 is an arithmetic equivalent, calculated by dividing the $60 payment across six months. You pay the $60 once, at the start.

Item Amount What it means
Introductory payment $60 upfront Covers six months; paid once, not monthly
Equivalent monthly price $10/mo Calculated figure only; not a billing cycle
Regular six-month Unlimited rate $35/mo as listed on the page (about $210 over six months) Listed on the same page; this is the best indication of the post-promotion price, so check your renewal options and the displayed price before buying
Taxes and fees Extra; amount varies by location Not included in the $60, so your checkout total will be higher

The gap between $10 and $35 per month is the core fact for anyone comparing this to a standard monthly bill. The offer is worth most to someone who knows they will stay on the service for at least six months and is willing to pay the full six months in advance.

Who the offer is for, and how long it lasts

The offer is aimed at new customers. The page says it applies only to the first six months, after which full-price plan options become available. Mint calls it a limited-time promotion but does not state when it ends, so the headline price can change without notice. If you are an existing Mint customer, the offer page is the place to confirm whether it is available to you.

What “Unlimited” includes and where it has limits

Deprioritization after 50 GB

Mint says Unlimited customers who use more than 50 GB in a monthly cycle may notice reduced speeds for the rest of that cycle, in certain locations, when the network is busy. Under Mint’s network management policy, these customers receive lower priority than other traffic during competing demand. The policy does not say that every customer is slowed after a fixed amount of data. Slowdowns depend on local congestion, so heavy users in quiet areas may not notice any change.

Hotspot allowance

The plan page says Unlimited includes up to 20 GB of hotspot data per month. If you tether a laptop for work, count that allowance separately from your phone’s own data use.

Video quality

The plan page states that video streams in standard definition (SD). Mint’s network policy, last updated June 10, 2026, describes video optimization as typically delivering SD-quality video, usually 480p at up to 1.5 Mbps, subject to network conditions and other policy details. This makes the plan a poor fit for anyone who expects high-definition streaming as a default.

Speed and coverage expectations

Service runs on T-Mobile’s domestic 4G LTE and 5G networks. Actual coverage and performance depend on your location, device, congestion, terrain, and other conditions. Mint’s network policy, last updated June 10, 2026, publishes typical national ranges:

Network Download Upload Latency
5G (typical national range) 127–455 Mbps 6–33 Mbps 15–27 ms
4G LTE (typical national range) 11–56 Mbps 2–18 Mbps 24–42 ms

These are Mint-published typical ranges, not a guarantee for a specific address or phone. Mint also states on its offer page that it provides 5G coverage to 98% of Americans and 4G LTE coverage to 99%. That figure carries no publication date or methodology on the page, so treat it as Mint’s own claim rather than an independently verified statistic. No independent third-party speed measurement was reviewed for this article.

Phone compatibility

A supported, compatible device is required. Mint’s bring-your-own-phone guidance asks customers to check compatibility and confirm the phone is unlocked, and Mint offers model and IMEI checks before you commit. For 5G service, the phone must be 5G-capable and the SIM must be in an appropriate coverage area. Do not assume that any unlocked 5G phone will work. Check the exact model or IMEI first.

Before you buy: a checklist

  1. Open Mint’s Unlimited plan page and confirm the offer still shows $60 for six months.
  2. Look at the final checkout total, not the $60 headline, and add the taxes and fees shown for your location.
  3. Run Mint’s IMEI or model check on your phone and confirm it is unlocked.
  4. Check coverage at the addresses where you will use the phone most. The national ranges above are not local guarantees.
  5. Note the price the plan shows when the six months end, and decide whether the post-promotion rate fits your budget.
  6. If you tether often or stream video, weigh the 20 GB hotspot cap and the SD video setting against your habits.

The verdict is simple: the $10 figure is real as an equivalent price, but it is paid as a $60 upfront purchase for an introductory six-month period. Buyers who understand the upfront cost, the post-promotion rate, and the network-management terms can judge whether the deal fits. Those who expect a $10 monthly bill for as long as they keep the line will be disappointed.
