If Mint Mobile data is slow, first check how much high-speed data remains in your plan. If you have data left, compare the connection in another place, refresh the phone’s cellular connection, then check the Mint line and settings. Slow data can come from plan limits, congestion, weak signal, or the phone—not just an APN setting.
Start by narrowing down the problem
Before changing settings, note what is slow and when it happens. These clues help distinguish an account limit from a local signal or phone issue.

- Does every app load slowly, or only one? If only one app is affected, the problem may be specific to that app or its service.
- Does data slow down everywhere or only in one building, neighborhood, or moving vehicle? Compare indoors with outdoors or another nearby location.
- Did the slowdown begin after reaching your plan’s data allowance, changing phones or SIMs, or traveling?
- Does the issue vary by time of day? A connection that slows mainly when many people are using the network may reflect congestion.
Check remaining data in your Mint account and compare it with the usage display on your phone. The phone’s counter may not match Mint’s billing cycle or allowance exactly, so use the Mint account and plan terms to confirm whether high-speed data remains.

For non-Unlimited plans, Mint says that after the designated high-speed allowance is reached, speeds may be reduced to 2G speeds—generally 128 Kbps for most plans—or data access may be suspended for the rest of the applicable month, depending on the plan terms. Check your account and the terms for your specific plan before considering a data add-on or upgrade. Mint’s FAQ describes those options.

On an Unlimited plan, Mint says use above 50 GB in a monthly cycle may be prioritized below other users when and where there is competing demand. That is a conditional policy, not a guaranteed slowdown everywhere; the status resets at the next cycle. Mint also says T-Mobile may reduce speeds for all plans during congestion. Mint’s Network Management Policy explains these terms.
Know what speeds and coverage claims mean
Mint’s policy gives the following typical on-device ranges for qualifying devices and SIMs in appropriate coverage on T-Mobile’s network:

| Connection | Download | Upload | Latency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5G | 127–455 Mbps | 6–33 Mbps | 15–27 ms |
| 4G LTE | 11–56 Mbps | 2–18 Mbps | 24–42 ms |
These are conditional typical ranges, not guaranteed results for a particular address, phone, indoor setting, time, or speed test. Mint lists network prioritization, active apps, cell-site distance and capacity, weather, terrain, buildings, moving vehicles, radio interference, user load, plan allowance, and tethering among factors that affect actual performance.

Mint’s network update states that its 4G LTE coverage reaches 99% of Americans. That is a population-coverage claim, not proof that service will be strong at a specific address or indoors. Check the Mint coverage map for your area, but treat it as an estimate rather than a guarantee.

Try these fixes in order
1. Compare signal in another location
Check whether the phone has a stronger connection outdoors or in another nearby location. Deep inside a building, underground, in a rural area, or in a moving vehicle, signal can be weaker or blocked. If data improves elsewhere, the issue is more likely tied to local coverage, obstruction, or capacity than a phone-wide setting.
2. Refresh the cellular connection
- Turn Airplane Mode on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off. Alternatively, switch cellular data off and back on.
- Restart the phone if the connection does not recover.
Mint’s troubleshooting guidance also describes a soft reset or force restart; it does not erase user data. Use the method for your phone model.

3. Confirm the Mint line is active for data
On a dual-SIM phone, check that cellular data is assigned to the Mint line, not another SIM or eSIM. Make sure cellular data is enabled for that line.
- Physical SIM: If it may be loose or poorly seated, power the phone off, remove the SIM, check that it is undamaged, and reseat it.
- eSIM: Toggle the Mint line off and back on if needed. Do not delete the eSIM as a routine troubleshooting step; removing it can require reactivation.
4. Review network selection and Wi-Fi Calling
Mint recommends checking network mode and selection; changing the selection can prompt the phone to reconnect automatically. The exact labels vary by device. If Wi-Fi Calling is enabled and the Wi-Fi connection is weak, temporarily turn Wi-Fi Calling off and test cellular data. Restore the original setting if it makes no difference.

5. Check APN settings only when appropriate
APN settings are carrier- and device-specific. Mint notes that some bring-your-own Android phones may not detect all settings automatically and provides an Android APN setup guide. Mint also says customers can text SETUP to 6700 after activating and installing the SIM or eSIM.
Do not copy APN values from an unrelated phone or carrier. Apple warns that an incorrect APN can disrupt mobile data, and APN editing may not be available on some iPhones. Follow Mint’s current instructions for your device or contact Mint for the correct settings; Apple’s APN support page explains the limits of changing them on iPhone.
6. Reset network settings only as a last resort
If the earlier checks fail, a network-settings reset may be an option, but it removes saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords along with other network information. Make sure you have the Wi-Fi passwords you need before proceeding. Mint identifies this as the final self-troubleshooting step in its service troubleshooting guide.

Contact Mint Care if the problem continues across locations or after the checks above. Call 800-683-7392 or use Mint chat. Ask support to check account provisioning and whether there is a local network issue. Without current, location-specific confirmation, a slow connection alone does not establish that there is an outage.
Mint says T-Mobile retired an older network security standard on April 1, 2026, and Mint transitioned too. The notice says most newer phones are unaffected and that some devices introduced in 2017 or earlier may have limited functionality, including certain call-setting management and, on Android, possible problems sending large multimedia messages. It does not identify slow mobile data as an effect, so this change should not be assumed to explain a data slowdown. See Mint’s network update for the notice.
