Mint Mobile Home MINTernet is prepaid 5G home internet: a supplied gateway connects to a nearby cellular tower and provides Wi-Fi in your home. Check your exact address before counting on service; Mint limits availability to select addresses. Before ordering, compare the full prepaid term cost and renewal rate, and weigh Mint’s provider-reported speed ranges against its congestion policy.
What is 5G Home MINTernet, and how does it work?
Home MINTernet uses cellular 5G rather than a cable or fiber line running to the home. Mint supplies a gateway that functions as both modem and Wi-Fi router. It connects to the mobile network and shares that connection with devices in the household. Mint describes the service as fixed-location home internet, not a general-purpose mobile hotspot.

Cellular home internet eligibility can reflect local capacity and signal conditions, not just whether a map shows coverage nearby. T-Mobile notes that eligibility may vary even between addresses on the same street, and can depend on signal strength, building materials, and restrictions in multi-dwelling buildings. Its broader Home Internet service is also not available everywhere. T-Mobile’s Home Internet page provides a useful comparison, but it does not confirm Mint eligibility.
How much does Mint Home MINTernet cost?
Mint requires payment for the full term upfront, with taxes and fees extra. Its page displays multiple offers and distinguishes introductory from renewal pricing, so the amount shown for a particular checkout and customer may differ. The following are the monthly-equivalent rates Mint lists by term; multiply by the term length to understand the base prepaid commitment, before taxes and fees. Verify the offer and applicable rate on Mint’s page before ordering.

What speeds can you expect?
Mint says Home MINTernet download speeds are typically 133–415 Mbps and usual upload speeds are 12–55 Mbps. These are provider-reported ranges, not a guarantee for a particular household or an independent test result. Actual performance can vary with cellular signal, network congestion, gateway placement, and other network conditions. Mint’s help page explains the service and its speed guidance.

T-Mobile also says actual speed varies with location, time of day, signal strength, availability, and other factors. Similar advertised ranges do not establish that performance, price, or eligibility will be the same at your address. T-Mobile’s service details.
What equipment is included, and how do you set it up?
Mint says the box includes a 5G gateway, power cord, and quick-start guide; some gateway models include a windowsill bracket. Because the gateway combines modem and router functions, Mint’s description does not establish that you need to buy a separate modem or router.

What does “unlimited” mean under Mint’s data policy?
Mint’s network management policy says Home Internet customers who use more than 1 TB in a monthly cycle may be prioritized below other traffic during congestion for the rest of that cycle. Mint says this may lead to slower speeds. The threshold is therefore relevant to households with heavy usage, particularly when the local network is busy. Read Mint’s network management policy.

Are there restrictions on how you can use the service?
Mint’s terms prohibit certain uses, including using the service as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections; operating server devices or host applications; and uploading, downloading, or streaming continuous video or audio. Review the current terms if your intended use may fall into one of these categories; the examples here describe Mint’s stated restrictions, not a legal interpretation. Mint’s terms and conditions.
How to decide whether Home MINTernet fits
Use these checks before committing to a prepaid term:
- Eligibility: Confirm your exact service address in Mint’s ordering flow.
- Total commitment: Calculate the full term payment, including taxes and fees, rather than treating the monthly equivalent as a monthly bill.
- Renewal price: Check the renewal rate and whether your current offer is introductory or otherwise conditional.
- Phone-plan bundle: Compare the applicable bundled and standalone rates; a Mint phone plan is optional, but can lower the home internet price.
- Performance: Consider Mint’s speed ranges as typical provider guidance, not a promise for your location.
- Usage and terms: Decide whether the 1 TB congestion threshold and Mint’s listed use restrictions suit your household.
For a comparison with another home internet option, check the same items—address eligibility, full upfront and renewal cost, published speeds, included equipment, network management, and any mobile-plan requirement. Headline speed figures alone are not enough to determine which service will work better at a particular home.
