Minecraft Server Cost in the UK: Hosting Prices for 2026

A practical 2026 guide to Minecraft server costs in the UK, with published Java and Bedrock prices, RAM/player guidance, and a checklist for comparing CPU, backups, support and billing terms.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In 2026, a hosted Minecraft server in the UK costs about £1.90–£5 per month for a small 1–2GB instance, £7.80–£20 for a typical 4–8GB server, and £23.40–£44.12 for 12–20GB plans. Those are advertised monthly prices from current provider pages, so check the checkout total, renewal price and tax treatment before paying. Your real requirement depends on edition, concurrent players, mods, view distance, simulation load and the host’s CPU—not RAM alone.

UK Minecraft server prices at a glance

The practical way to budget is to start with memory (RAM), then verify the processor, storage, location and included services. The following bands describe advertised monthly hosting prices found for UK-facing plans in 2026:

Server size Typical use Advertised monthly range
1–2GB Small vanilla world, a few friends £1.90–£5
4–8GB Regular survival server or a larger group £7.80–£20
12–20GB Large communities, heavy plugins or modpacks £23.40–£44.12

These are recurring advertised prices, not a guarantee of capacity. A poorly performing CPU can make a high-RAM plan lag, while a lightly used vanilla server can run comfortably on a smaller allocation.

Published UK plan prices for 2026

The examples below show how providers structure their tiers. Prices are monthly and in pounds sterling as displayed on the cited provider pages. They can change, so treat them as a current comparison rather than a locked quotation.

HostPanel (London hosting)

HostPanel lists a simple £2.50 per GB per month structure and says plans renew at the sign-up price. Its published tiers are:

RAM Monthly price
2GB £5
4GB £10
6GB £15
8GB £20
12GB £30
16GB £40

The service advertises NVMe storage, automatic backups, DDoS protection, instant setup and full file access. Its London location can be relevant to players in Great Britain, although actual latency still depends on each player’s internet route.

Shockbyte Bedrock

Shockbyte’s Bedrock schedule starts below £3 and rises in roughly 1GB steps:

RAM Monthly price
1GB £2.94
2GB £5.89
3GB £8.84
4GB £11.79
5GB £14.74
6GB £17.69

These are Bedrock listings. The provider highlights cross-platform Bedrock support, 24/7 support, DDoS protection and a 99.9% uptime claim. An uptime claim is a service commitment, not a promise that an individual world will never disconnect.

GTX Gaming

GTX Gaming publishes the broadest set of tiers in the comparison and says Java and Bedrock use the same hardware and pricing:

RAM Monthly price
1GB £1.90
2GB £3.90
4GB £7.80
6GB £11.70
8GB £15.60
12GB £23.40
16GB £31.30
20GB £44.12

GTX Gaming says customers can resize or cancel monthly. Confirm whether a resize takes effect immediately, whether a restart is required and how unused time is credited; those operational details are not established by the advertised tier list.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Scooperdive Java

Scooperdive’s Java plans are listed at:

RAM Monthly price
1GB £2.50
2GB £5
4GB £8
6GB £13
7GB £18.50

Those listings are specifically for Java. Do not assume a Java plan runs Bedrock clients unless the provider explicitly supplies cross-edition support.

How much RAM do you need?

Provider player counts are useful starting points, but they are guidance rather than a capacity guarantee. The same number of players can create very different loads depending on exploration, redstone, farms, plugins, mods, render distance and simulation distance.

16GB 30–50+ players Not stated
20GB 50+ players Not stated

Choose by workload, not the headline player count

  • Vanilla survival: Begin with the smallest tier that covers your expected concurrent players, leaving headroom for world generation and backups.
  • Plugins or datapacks: Allow extra memory and check CPU performance, because entity processing and scheduled tasks can become the bottleneck first.
  • Modpacks: Large packs commonly need at least 8GB according to HostPanel’s guidance. Read the pack author’s memory recommendation and increase it if several players explore new chunks simultaneously.
  • Large view or simulation distances: These settings increase the number of chunks and entities processed around every player. Lowering them can improve tick rate without immediately buying more RAM.

Java, Bedrock and cross-platform compatibility

Edition is a purchasing decision, not a minor technical detail. Java Edition servers use Java server software and Java clients; Bedrock servers serve Bedrock clients across supported devices. Some hosts sell separate products, while others state that both editions share hardware and pricing.

  • Java-only listing: Scooperdive’s published tiers are identified as Java, so treat them as Java hosting unless its support team confirms another option.
  • Bedrock listing: Shockbyte’s cited prices are for Bedrock and its description highlights cross-platform Bedrock support.
  • Both editions: GTX Gaming says Java and Bedrock share hardware and pricing. Verify the exact server software and whether Java–Bedrock bridging is included or requires separate configuration.

Before ordering, match the edition to the game accounts your players actually use. A cheaper plan is not useful if clients cannot connect without an unsupported bridge.

What you are paying for besides RAM

CPU and tick performance

Minecraft’s game loop must maintain a target tick rate. CPU generation, per-core speed, contention with other customers and the host’s limits can matter more than adding memory once the world fits comfortably in RAM. Ask what CPU resources are guaranteed or shared, and whether throttling applies during busy periods. The cited price pages do not provide a common CPU specification, so do not compare providers on RAM price alone.

Storage

World saves, region files, logs and mod files create storage activity. HostPanel advertises NVMe storage, which is a concrete specification; the other cited price lists do not state an equivalent storage type. Storage speed affects startup, chunk generation and backup jobs, but it cannot compensate for an underpowered CPU.

Backups and recovery

Automatic backups reduce the impact of corruption, accidental deletion or a bad mod update. HostPanel lists automatic backups. For any plan where backups are not explicitly listed, ask how often they run, how many restore points are retained, where they are stored and whether restoring costs extra. Keep an independent download of important worlds when the control panel permits it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

DDoS protection and support

DDoS filtering helps protect availability from network floods; it does not fix plugin crashes or a saturated CPU. HostPanel and Shockbyte advertise DDoS protection. Shockbyte also advertises 24/7 support. Check the support channel, response target and scope before assuming round-the-clock coverage includes configuration work.

Uptime and location

Shockbyte publishes a 99.9% uptime claim. Read the provider’s definition, exclusions and any service-credit process rather than treating the number as a personal guarantee. A London data-centre option can reduce distance for UK players, but latency varies by ISP, region and peering. Test from the locations where your players live if latency is critical.

Resizing and cancellation

Monthly flexibility is valuable while a community grows. GTX Gaming says plans can be resized or cancelled monthly. Confirm notice periods, billing cut-off times, downgrade limits and whether changing RAM preserves the same files and IP address. A low introductory price is less attractive if the renewal or migration rules are restrictive.

How to select a plan step by step

  1. Identify the edition. List whether every player uses Java, Bedrock or a documented cross-platform setup.
  2. Estimate concurrent players. Use the busiest normal evening, not your total whitelist. Add headroom for new players joining at once.
  3. Classify the workload. Record vanilla, plugins, datapacks or modpacks, plus planned view and simulation distances.
  4. Set a RAM starting point. Compare the provider guidance table, then move up a tier for heavy mods or unusually high simulation load.
  5. Check CPU and storage details. Prefer a host that states meaningful CPU resources and storage type instead of only advertising memory.
  6. Verify operations. Confirm backups, restore access, DDoS policy, support hours, uptime terms, setup time and file access.
  7. Read billing terms. Record the monthly renewal price, cancellation deadline, refund policy and any difference between advertised and checkout totals.
  8. Test and monitor. After setup, watch tick rate, CPU, memory, disk use and player latency during peak activity. Resize only when measurements show a sustained bottleneck.

Common mistakes that increase the cost

  • Buying for total members: A 100-person community may have only 10 concurrent players; sizing for the peak online count avoids paying for idle RAM.
  • Ignoring modpack requirements: A server that starts on a small tier can crash or lag when additional mods and explored chunks accumulate.
  • Assuming RAM fixes every lag spike: CPU contention, chunk generation, entities and network routes can remain bottlenecks after an upgrade.
  • Overlooking renewal language: Save the sign-up and renewal terms. HostPanel explicitly states renewal at the sign-up price; other providers should be checked individually.
  • Treating backups as automatic everywhere: Only rely on backups that the plan explicitly includes and that you can restore or download.
  • Skipping edition checks: Java and Bedrock are not interchangeable by default. Confirm compatibility before migrating a world or inviting players.

What a realistic 2026 budget looks like

For a private vanilla world with a handful of players, the low end of the published market can be enough. A regular friend group using plugins will usually compare the 4–8GB tiers, where the examples span from the high single digits to £20 per month. Communities running demanding modpacks or hosting many simultaneous players should budget for 12GB and above, with published examples reaching the mid-£40s at 20GB.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Those figures cover the recurring server allocation only. The cited plans do not establish universal charges for domain names, premium support, extra backups, setup labour, taxes or payment fees. Treat any such item as a separate line until it appears clearly in the provider’s checkout and terms.

Bottom line

For most UK players in 2026, plan on roughly £8–£20 per month for a dependable 4–8GB server, while a tiny vanilla instance can cost under £5 and a large modded or community server can exceed £30. Choose the edition first, size for real concurrent load, then compare CPU, storage, backups, DDoS protection, support, UK location and renewal rules. Provider RAM charts are a starting point; your server’s measurements after launch are the evidence that should guide an upgrade.
