Yes, Minecraft Dungeons II should be playable on Steam Deck, but Mojang’s latest status update still listed caveats and said full Steam Deck verification was still to come. Steam advertises co-op for up to four players; official sequel save-sync behavior remains unconfirmed.
Does Minecraft Dungeons II work on Steam Deck?
According to Mojang’s October 1, 2026 update, “The game should now be playable on Steam Deck.” Mojang also warned that some issues may remain, including missing on-screen keyboard functionality, and said further improvements were planned to bring the game to full Steam Deck verification. That is a dated compatibility status, not a guarantee that every player will have the same experience.

The Steam store listing gives Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating system and does not list Linux as a system requirement. Valve’s Steam Deck FAQ explains that Deck can run games through Proton, a compatibility layer. That general capability helps explain how a Windows-listed game can run on Deck, but it does not establish native Linux support for Minecraft Dungeons II or certify a particular Proton version on desktop Linux.

In practical terms, the evidence supports saying that Mojang considers the game playable on Steam Deck as of October 1, 2026, with caveats. It does not support promising that the game works on every Linux distribution or desktop configuration.
Does Minecraft Dungeons II support Steam Cloud or cross-platform saves?
The official sequel sources cited here do not establish whether Minecraft Dungeons II synchronizes saves through Steam Cloud, Microsoft accounts, or a manual in-game process. Steam Support explains that each developer chooses and configures Steam Cloud support, and advises checking the game’s store page for its Cloud information: Steam Cloud guidance. The available sequel listing material does not confirm how its saves work.

Do not assume the first Minecraft Dungeons’ instructions apply. Mojang’s 2021 cloud-save article describes manually uploading and downloading heroes for the original game, including up to 20 slots per account. It is not documentation for Dungeons II.

Valve notes that Steam Deck requires an internet connection for online multiplayer. Mojang’s FAQ says online console multiplayer/co-op requires the relevant platform subscription; that console-specific condition should not be extended to Steam without platform-specific confirmation.
