The Hero Cape is the easiest announced route: play the original Minecraft Dungeons, then sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II with the same Microsoft account before December 31, 2026. Prior play through Game Pass or Steam counts, and the official FAQ says joining a friend’s co-op session can qualify even if you do not own either game. Other capes have different requirements: the Soul Cape comes with the Deluxe Edition, while the Twisted Cape was a preorder reward and is no longer available through that offer.
Which cape can you still get?
The available route depends on the cape and where you want to use it. The Hero Cape unlocks in Minecraft Dungeons II and can then be claimed in Java and/or Bedrock Edition. The Soul Cape is part of the Deluxe Edition. The Aurora Cape is earned through a limited livestream promotion, but it is for Minecraft—not Minecraft Dungeons II. Details for the Corrupted Creeper and Special capes remain incomplete in the official guide.

How to unlock the Hero Cape
- Use the Microsoft account associated with your qualifying history in the original Minecraft Dungeons. Previous play through Game Pass or Steam counts.
- Before December 31, 2026, sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II with that same account. You do not need to replay the first game if you already played it on the qualifying account.
- If you do not own either game, the official FAQ says joining a friend’s co-op session can qualify. Follow the same-account sign-in requirement and deadline.
- After the Hero Cape entitlement appears in Dungeons II, sign in to Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account to unlock it there too.
Minecraft’s FAQ lists these as eligibility routes; it does not say that you must buy both games. See the official Dungeons II FAQ for its exact account and co-op guidance.

Only players who already qualified through the Minecraft Dungeons II preorder should follow the preorder-reward instructions: sign in to Dungeons II and confirm the reward, then sign in to Java and/or Bedrock with the same Microsoft account. The official guide says the preorder bonus is no longer available through purchase, so buying the game now is not a way to obtain the Twisted Cape.

How to get the Soul Cape
The Soul Cape is included in the Deluxe Edition. That edition also bundles the Blub pet, four additional hero skins, and DLC 1 and 2 as they become available. Game Pass members can upgrade to Deluxe; check the Xbox listing for edition details. The Deluxe upgrade is the route for this cape, not a requirement for the Hero Cape.
How the Aurora Cape livestream promotion works
The Aurora reward is easy to confuse with a Dungeons II cosmetic because the qualifying broadcast is about Dungeons II. The reward itself is a cape for Minecraft. Minecraft’s guide says to watch any rewards-enabled Dungeons II livestream for the platform-specific minimum time, then redeem the resulting code at minecraft.net/redeem. Watch time counts only while the stream is live, and the stated offer window ends October 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. See the official promotion instructions for the current eligibility details.
