In Power Up Gaming’s October 2, 2026 ranking, the S-tier weapons are War Hammer, Mace, Short Spear, Awesomeaxe, Heartbreaker, Redstone Wrecker, Pride of the Plains, and Tornado Blade. That is one publication’s early post-launch list—not an official Mojang ranking or an independently tested consensus. Which weapon is best for you depends on your build and whether you value boss damage, reach, crowd control, or clearing groups.
Updated October 3, 2026. Minecraft Dungeons II launched September 29, 2026, and this ranking reflects a third-party guide published three days later.

What is the best weapon in Minecraft Dungeons II?
War Hammer is one candidate for the strongest weapon in Power Up Gaming’s list: the guide reports up to 500 DPS in an optimized setup with the Lightning Surge enchantment. That is a build-dependent figure from the guide, not a universal damage value. The list also puts Mace, Short Spear, Awesomeaxe, Heartbreaker, Redstone Wrecker, Pride of the Plains, and Tornado Blade in S tier.

The table reproduces the tiers reported by Serhii Patskan in Power Up Gaming’s October 2, 2026 guide. The tier placement is that publisher’s editorial judgment, not an official ranking. It says the game has 80 weapons and that each regular weapon has a unique variant with special effects; that count is also the guide’s claim, not an independently confirmed official total.

What the S-tier weapons are reported to do
The guide’s numerical claims are useful for understanding why it rated certain weapons highly, but its published figures may depend on build choices, enchantments, measurement methods, or patches. They should not be read as guaranteed damage in every player’s game.

How to choose among the top-ranked weapons
A letter grade compresses several combat traits into one ranking. Compare weapons by the job you need them to do, and keep a weapon’s own effects separate from gains that depend on enchants or attack conditions.

Those numbers are not directly interchangeable unless the build and attack conditions match.
- For groups and area coverage: Redstone Wrecker’s reported wave and Tornado Blade’s reported Swirling effect point to damage beyond a single straightforward hit. The guide gives effect percentages, not a controlled comparison of room-clearing speed.
- For single-target pressure: Pride of the Plains is described with a bonus against its primary target and a base single-target DPS figure. The guide does not establish that it outperforms every alternative against bosses in every build.
- For a Strength-oriented effect: Awesomeaxe’s reported 70% chance to boost Strength is probabilistic, so its value depends on how often the effect triggers and how your setup uses Strength.
- For reach, crowd control, or mobility: The tier list does not provide comparable measured values for these traits across every weapon. Consider how a weapon feels and performs with your own armor, artifacts, enchants, and preferred combat rhythm rather than inferring those qualities from its tier alone.
How much confidence should you put in this ranking?
This is an early snapshot published shortly after launch, not a stable or official meta. Mojang’s launch material establishes the release date, supported platforms, broad equipment systems, and co-op for up to four players locally or online; it does not publish a weapon tier list. The detailed ranks and performance figures here come from one third-party guide. The evidence does not establish a cross-publication consensus or independently reproduced testing, and later patches could change weapon balance.

Use the list to identify weapons worth trying, then judge them in the build and encounters you actually play. In co-op, where Mojang says up to four players can join locally or online, a weapon that complements the group’s needs may be more useful than one that simply sits higher on a general tier list.
