MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure is a third-party CurseForge modpack that combines MineColonies settlement management with technology, magic, exploration, extra dimensions and dungeons. For a new installation, use the 1.21.1-1.2.5 NeoForge release, uploaded August 28, 2026, through CurseForge or Prism. The project is still in active development, so expect bugs, recipe changes and other lifecycle changes. It supports solo worlds and multiplayer, with server-pack files published for supported versions.

MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure at a glance
The pack’s core idea is to build and operate a MineColonies settlement while gradually adding the equipment and infrastructure needed for technological progression, magical systems, dangerous exploration and travel beyond the starting dimension. It is not simply a collection of MineColonies building schematics: the intended loop ties worker management and production to exploration and combat.

What the pack adds to a MineColonies playthrough
The project description presents MineColonies, technology, magic and exploration as one combined experience. MineColonies supplies the management layer: citizens need housing, food and workstations, while specialist workers turn raw resources into building materials, food and equipment. The additional systems give you reasons to expand production and leave the colony rather than treating the settlement as an isolated building project.
Colony management
Your settlement is built around a Town Hall and a growing network of citizen housing, a warehouse and production buildings. Builders construct and upgrade structures, while couriers and the warehouse move materials through the colony. Farmers, fishermen and animal herders provide food and renewable resources. Miners, foresters and other gatherers supply the materials needed for construction and crafting. Guards protect the settlement, and specialist processing roles turn inputs into usable goods.

Technology and magic
The pack includes technology and magic systems, but the available information does not establish a single required progression route or a definitive list of every included mod. Treat those systems as complementary tools: improve resource processing, automate or accelerate recurring work where the pack allows it, and use magical options to broaden equipment or utility choices. Recipes and progression can change while the creator is actively developing the pack, so check the in-game recipe viewer for the exact version you installed.
Dimensions and dungeons
Additional dimensions and dungeons are part of the pack’s advertised scope. The project information does not provide a complete, stable catalog of dimension names, dungeon names or generated structures, so do not assume that a guide written for one release describes every later release. In practical terms, these areas are the exploration branch of the game: secure your colony’s food and production first, then use the resulting equipment and supplies to investigate portals, dimensions and dungeon encounters.

No. MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure is a third-party CurseForge project by Devilswarchild. The project page explicitly says it is not officially associated with the MineColonies Dev Team or any official MineColonies packs. That distinction matters when you are looking for support, compatibility guarantees or release schedules: the pack creator controls this pack’s selection and updates, while the upstream MineColonies project documents the colony systems themselves.
CurseForge page data lists 1,233,132 total downloads. That number is a changing popularity counter, not an independent test of stability, performance or server capacity. No independent benchmark or player-performance study establishes a guaranteed frame rate, maximum player count or difficulty rating for this pack.
Choose the right Minecraft version and launcher
Start by deciding whether you want the newest listed release or an older release family required by an existing world, server or mod setup. Never mix the Minecraft version, mod loader and pack file: a 1.21.1 NeoForge instance is a different environment from a 1.20.1 Forge instance.

| Choice | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21.1-1.2.5, NeoForge | You want the newest main release listed for the pack at the time covered here | Newest content may also bring recipe changes or newly introduced bugs because development is active |
| 1.20.1 release, Forge | Your existing world, server or mod workflow is tied to Minecraft 1.20.1 | You remain on an older release family and must use the exact compatible pack file |
| 1.19.2 release | You need compatibility with a 1.19.2 environment | You give up changes made in later releases and must keep every client and server component on 1.19.2 |
CurseForge
CurseForge is one of the two launchers recommended by the project page. Its pack installation normally keeps the selected Minecraft version, loader and mod list together in a dedicated profile.
- Install the CurseForge app and make sure the Minecraft account you intend to use is available through the launcher.
- Open the Minecraft section and search for MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure by Devilswarchild. Check the author and pack name so you do not install a similarly named project.
- Open the pack’s files or version selector and choose the release that matches your intended Minecraft version and loader. For a new installation covered by this guide, select MineColonies Dimensional Adventure-1.21.1-1.2.5.zip, marked for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
- Create or install the profile. Allow the launcher to download the modpack and its dependencies rather than copying individual mods into a separate instance.
- Launch the profile once, wait for the title screen, then create a test world before investing in a long-term colony. This confirms that the selected loader and pack files start correctly.
Launcher labels can change between app versions, but the verification points do not: the profile must show the same Minecraft version, loader and pack release that your friends or server use.
Prism
Prism is the other launcher recommended by the project page. Use its pack-import or download flow to obtain the CurseForge project, then inspect the resulting instance before launching.
- Install Prism and sign in with the Minecraft account that owns the game.
- Choose the option to add a new instance and select the CurseForge-based download or import path.
- Search for the exact project title and select the desired file. Choose the 1.21.1 NeoForge release for a current installation, or select the older Forge release family required by an existing setup.
- Open the instance settings and confirm the Minecraft version, loader and modpack contents. Do not manually replace the loader with Forge when the selected file requires NeoForge.
- Start the instance and create a short test world. If it works, copy the same instance definition to each player’s computer rather than building separate mod lists by hand.
Why not ATLauncher or GDLauncher?
The project page specifically warns that ATLauncher and GDLauncher can bug out with this pack. Use CurseForge or Prism first. If you have already installed the pack in one of the warned-against launchers, the most reliable recovery is to create a clean profile in a recommended launcher, select the exact release again and test that profile before moving a save into it.
Start a new colony in the right order
A successful opening is less about rushing to the first dungeon than about creating a production base that can replace tools, food and building materials. The following order follows the pack’s advertised colony infrastructure and the normal MineColonies worker dependencies.

1. Claim a practical starting area
Look for a relatively level location with room for the Town Hall, housing, roads, farms, production buildings and later expansion. Keep access to wood, stone, water and food-producing terrain. A scenic but cramped site can force expensive relocation or awkward layouts once the settlement grows.
2. Place the Town Hall
The Town Hall is the administrative center of the colony. Place it where future districts can spread outward rather than at the edge of a cliff, ocean or narrow valley. Before committing, walk the surrounding area and identify where housing, farms, storage and defensive structures could fit.
3. Provide housing and a warehouse
Citizens need homes, and the colony needs centralized storage. Early housing keeps workers available, while a warehouse gives couriers a place to route materials between production buildings and construction sites. If workers appear idle despite having jobs, check that they have valid housing, reachable work buildings and access to stored inputs.
4. Establish food production
Food is the foundation of a growing workforce. Use the available farmer, fisherman and animal-herder roles to build a dependable supply instead of relying on emergency gathering. Keep a reserve in storage before sending the first large group on a long exploration trip.

5. Add builders and basic production
Builders consume materials quickly when the colony starts expanding. Supply them with a predictable stream of wood, stone and other required inputs through miners, foresters and processing roles. Add smelters, bakers and cooks as soon as the recipes and building levels make them available so raw resources become construction components and prepared food rather than a pile of unprocessed items.

6. Secure the settlement
Guards and defensive planning matter before you open distant portals or spend nights away from home. Keep lighting, access routes and replacement equipment organized. A colony that can survive while its owner is exploring is much easier to expand than one that must be rescued after every expedition.
Understand the worker network
MineColonies works best when you treat each citizen as part of a supply chain rather than as an isolated job. The upstream project documents the following roles, all of which fit the pack’s colony-first opening.
| Role | Primary contribution | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Builder | Constructs and upgrades colony buildings | Needs a steady supply of requested materials and a reachable work site |
| Farmer | Produces crops and food inputs | Needs suitable farmland, seeds and storage access |
| Fisher | Supplies fish as a food source | Requires a workable fishing location and collection route |
| Forester | Provides renewable wood and related materials | Needs a managed planting and harvesting area |
| Miner | Extracts underground resources | Needs safe access, tools and a place for output to be delivered |
| Smelter | Processes ores and other smeltable inputs | Consumes fuel and depends on reliable input deliveries |
| Baker | Produces baked food | Needs the correct ingredients and a functioning delivery path |
| Cook | Turns ingredients into prepared meals | Benefits from coordinated farms, fisheries and animal production |
| Courier or delivery worker | Moves items between the warehouse and workplaces | Long routes, blocked paths or a disorganized warehouse can slow the whole colony |
| Guard | Defends the settlement | Needs equipment, a valid assignment and defensive coverage |
| Animal herder | Manages livestock and animal resources | Needs suitable enclosures and a food or breeding plan |
When a new building repeatedly fails to complete, inspect the chain in order: does the building request an item, can a courier reach it, does the warehouse contain the item, and does the producing worker have its own inputs? This approach is more reliable than adding random workers whenever a progress bar stops.
When to explore dimensions and dungeons
The pack’s extra dimensions and dungeons are a major reason to play beyond the initial colony. They are also the easiest way to turn an underdeveloped settlement into a resource crisis. Make the first expedition a planned operation rather than an impulse trip.
- Carry enough food for the journey and keep a separate emergency reserve at home.
- Bring replacement tools, weapons, armor and light sources appropriate to your current progression.
- Leave the colony with core production still running; food and building-material chains should not depend on the player’s constant presence.
- Mark the departure point and maintain a return route. If the destination uses portals or special travel rules, record the route before entering a dungeon.
- Store valuable drops in a safe location before attempting a deeper run.
Because the project information does not publish a definitive dimension or dungeon list, use the installed version’s in-game discovery tools and recipe or advancement information to identify available destinations. A later pack update may add, remove or rebalance a destination, so a third-party checklist can become stale even when the world itself still loads.

Play solo or with friends?
| Approach | Strengths | Planning burden |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | You control the settlement layout, worker priorities and exploration schedule. There is no client-version coordination. | Every supply chain, defense task and expedition depends on one player. |
| Community or multiplayer | Players can divide responsibilities: one person manages builders and storage, another handles food and animals, while others explore or develop technology and magic. | Everyone must use the same pack release, Minecraft version and loader, and the group needs a shared backup and update policy. |
A useful division of labor is to give one player responsibility for colony infrastructure, one for food and materials, and one for exploration. Rotate those duties if the group wants everyone to experience each part of the pack. Agree on who can upgrade buildings or change shared storage priorities before the settlement becomes large.
Set up a dedicated multiplayer server
The project publishes server-pack files for supported versions. Use the server pack that corresponds exactly to the client release rather than extracting a different version’s files and hoping the loader resolves the difference.
- Choose one pack release, such as the 1.21.1 NeoForge release, and record its Minecraft version and loader.
- Download the matching server-pack files listed for that release.
- Install the required server loader and place the server-pack contents in the server directory according to the pack’s included instructions.
- Start the server once to generate its configuration and world files, then stop it cleanly before making configuration changes.
- Have every player install the identical client pack release. A client on 1.20.1 Forge cannot join a 1.21.1 NeoForge server.
- Create regular world backups, especially before updating the pack or changing major configuration settings.
The available information confirms multiplayer support and the existence of server-pack files, but it does not establish a tested player limit, hosting specification or guaranteed performance level. Choose server hardware and memory according to the launcher and server software’s own current guidance, then monitor the server in your particular world.
Colony-first or exploration-first?
| Strategy | Opening priorities | Best fit | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colony-first | Town Hall, housing, warehouse, food, builders and production | Players who enjoy planning, automation and a dependable home base | Exploration may feel delayed while infrastructure is built |
| Exploration-first | Basic shelter, food, tools and early combat equipment before pursuing dimensions or dungeons | Players motivated by discovery and loot | Returning to an under-supplied colony can stall construction and food production |
| Hybrid | Reach a minimum viable colony, then alternate short expeditions with planned infrastructure upgrades | Most groups and first-time players | Requires discipline so neither the colony nor exploration receives all available resources |
The hybrid approach is usually the safest first run: establish housing, storage, food and basic production, then explore in short trips while builders and workers continue improving the settlement.
Updating an active-development pack safely
Active development is both an advantage and a warning. New releases can add content or correct problems, but they can also alter recipes, dependencies, world generation or balance. Treat an update as a migration, not as a harmless button press.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Record the current pack version, Minecraft version and loader.
- Back up the entire world and server directory, not only the visible save folder.
- Read the new release notes and verify that the target release supports the same Minecraft family and loader.
- Install the new release as a separate launcher profile or server directory.
- Open a copy of the world and check the Town Hall, worker jobs, storage, recipes, portals and known travel routes.
- Only replace the live profile after the copied world loads and the colony’s essential systems work.
If an update changes a recipe or removes a dependency, reverting to the previous profile and backup is safer than repeatedly opening the only copy of a valuable colony in different versions.
Troubleshooting checklist
The pack will not launch
- Confirm that the profile’s Minecraft version and loader match the downloaded pack file.
- Recreate the profile in CurseForge or Prism, since the project page reports problems with ATLauncher and GDLauncher.
- Remove manually added mods or overrides and test the untouched pack first.
- Let the launcher finish downloading dependencies before starting again.
A friend cannot join
- Compare the exact pack release, Minecraft version and loader on both computers.
- If a dedicated server is involved, verify that its server-pack files correspond to the client release.
- Do not let one player update independently while the server remains on an older release.
Workers are idle or construction is stalled
- Check that the citizen has valid housing and that the assigned building exists and is reachable.
- Inspect the warehouse for the requested item and confirm that a courier can travel between storage and the workplace.
- Trace the input chain backward: a smelter may be waiting for ore or fuel, while a cook may be waiting for farm, fish or animal inputs.
- Clear blocked paths and keep production buildings close enough to make delivery routes manageable.
An update appears to break the world
- Stop using the updated profile on the only copy of the save.
- Restore the pre-update backup in the previous pack profile.
- Test the new release on a duplicate world and check release notes for recipe, dependency or generation changes.
Who should play it?
This pack is a strong fit if you want a MineColonies settlement to be the center of a broader adventure game. It rewards players who enjoy assigning workers, maintaining supply chains and planning expansion, while still offering technology, magic, dimensions and dungeons for players who need exploration goals. It is less suitable for anyone who requires a fixed, officially supported MineColonies experience with a guaranteed unchanging recipe set: the creator labels it active development and explicitly warns that bugs and lifecycle changes are possible.
For the least friction, install the 1.21.1-1.2.5 NeoForge release in CurseForge or Prism, build a compact but expandable colony, and postpone deep dimension or dungeon runs until food, storage, production and defense are dependable. In multiplayer, standardize the release before anyone creates the shared world and use the matching server-pack files.
