MindCare: An Angular + Spring Boot Clinic-Management Learning Project

MindCare is described as a clinic-management learning project with an Angular and IndexedDB frontend-only mode and a Spring Boot and PostgreSQL full-stack mode. Its creator’s article lists broad features, but does not provide local setup instructions.

MindCare is described by its creator as a clinic-management learning project with two ways to explore it: an Angular frontend-only mode using IndexedDB, and a full-stack mode connected to Spring Boot and PostgreSQL. The project is presented as a way to study an Angular + Spring Boot real project, but its creator’s article does not include setup commands or prerequisites, and the linked repository and demo could not be independently inspected here. Treat the feature list and stack as the author’s description, not as verified production capabilities.

What MindCare is intended to cover

Mohamed El Laithy’s project description presents MindCare as a clinic and medical-center management platform rather than a single appointment-booking example. The reported modules span several user roles:

  • Patients: browse doctors and book appointments based on doctor shifts, with scheduling rules intended to prevent conflicting bookings.
  • Reception staff: manage a live queue, check patients in, send WhatsApp check-in notifications, and prioritize emergencies.
  • Doctors: view patient history and electronic medical records, create e-prescriptions, manage medical information, and use PDF exports and QR codes.
  • Pharmacy and laboratory staff: manage medicine stock, receive low-stock alerts, and track lab results.
  • Billing staff: create invoices, record multiple payment methods, and manage billing records.
  • Administrators: perform CRUD and dynamic data management, with changes said to be reflected across the platform.

The author also reports English and Arabic support with dynamic right-to-left and left-to-right layout switching. These are descriptions of intended project features; they should not be taken as independent confirmation that each workflow works as described.

How the two operating modes differ

The project’s central learning idea is that the same Angular application can reportedly be used with a backend or without one. According to El Laithy, a runtime configuration flag determines which mode the application uses, avoiding the need to rebuild the frontend to switch modes.

Mode Backend required? Reported persistence and components What a learner can explore
Frontend-only No, according to the author; it is intended to avoid first configuring the backend and database. Angular 21, IndexedDB, and client-side logic. The Angular application and its client-side behavior, without the full backend/database setup.
Full-stack Yes, according to the described architecture. Angular frontend connected to Spring Boot 3, Spring Security, JWT authentication, PostgreSQL, and Flyway. The reported frontend-to-REST-API integration and the listed backend, authentication, database, and migration technologies.

The creator’s wording is: “The application uses a runtime configuration flag to determine which mode it should use.” This is his account of the project’s design; it has not been independently verified. No measured setup-time, performance, or security comparison is provided, so the modes cannot be ranked on those grounds.

Reported technology stack and version limits

Beyond the mode-specific components, the author lists Angular Signals, standalone components, TypeScript, REST APIs, Java, and Docker. Only Angular 21 and Spring Boot 3 are given as versions; minor and patch releases are not specified. The project description also does not state Java or PostgreSQL versions, supported operating systems, or Docker setup details. Do not assume that an unlisted version or environment is supported.

Where to find the demo and source

The creator’s article links to a MindCare demo and the MindCare GitHub repository. Their destinations are identified, but their current contents and operation could not be independently inspected. Check whether the pages are currently available and read the repository’s current README before relying on any setup or feature claims.

Can you run it locally?

The project is presented as something developers can clone, run, read, modify, and extend. However, the creator’s article does not provide commands, prerequisites, sample credentials, environment variables, backend startup steps, database initialization, or migration instructions. The available information is not enough to give a reliable local installation procedure, so no commands or tested-run claim can be supplied here. Use the repository’s current README as the authority for those steps if it is accessible.

How to assess it as a learning project

MindCare’s reported breadth makes it potentially useful for exploring how a clinic-management application could divide work across patient, reception, clinical, pharmacy/lab, billing, and administration areas. Its two-mode design is also a concrete architectural question to investigate: how the frontend selects a data path, and how its client-side mode differs from API-backed behavior.

  • Inspect the repository and README before treating any listed feature as implemented or runnable.
  • For the frontend-only mode, look for the runtime configuration and IndexedDB-backed code paths.
  • For the full-stack mode, look for API integration, authentication, database configuration, and Flyway migration files.
  • Evaluate any clinical, privacy, security, or production-use claims from the actual code and deployment context; the project description alone does not establish suitability for real patient care.

The project author’s first-person overview, published on DEV Community on October 1, 2026, is the primary description available for these features and technologies. It is not an independent code review, and the linked code and demo were not available for inspection here.
