Neither Midea nor Frigidaire is a proven overall winner. Choose by exact model, room moisture load and drainage route: Midea’s MAD50PS1QWT-A combines 50-pint daily capacity with a built-in pump, while Frigidaire’s 50-pint FHDD5034Y1 offers Wi-Fi and continuous drainage but no pump feature is established on its product page. Frigidaire’s separate FHDP5033Y1 is the pump-equipped option. These are manufacturer-listed features, not results from a controlled comparison.
Which model fits your room and setup?
Start with where the unit will run and where its water will go. A basement with a drain below the unit can often use gravity drainage; if water must travel upward to a sink or window, a built-in pump is the relevant feature. For a bedroom or other occupied room, also consider controls and placement, but the available product listings do not establish which model is quieter.

Midea’s stated 4,500-square-foot coverage is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that the unit is correctly sized for every room. Actual needs depend on how damp the space is, its conditions and how much moisture enters it. The reviewed pages do not provide enough comparable information to declare one brand better for a particular room size.
Choose drainage before choosing the brand
If water must go upward
Choose a model whose exact specifications confirm a built-in pump. Midea lists one on the MAD50PS1QWT-A; Frigidaire lists one on the distinct FHDP5033Y1. Do not assume the FHDD5034Y1 has the same pump simply because it is also a Frigidaire 50-pint model.

If you can drain by gravity
The FHDD5034Y1 lists continuous drainage, and a portable dehumidifier can use a hose to a floor drain or sump when the setup supports it. Gravity drainage requires an appropriate lower drain and a safe hose path. Check hose compatibility for the exact model, and keep the hose away from electrical cords and connections.
What the smart features do—and do not—tell you
Both the Midea MAD50PS1QWT-A and Frigidaire FHDD5034Y1 list app and voice-assistant controls. Midea names SmartHome and voice-assistant control; Frigidaire lists Wi-Fi/app connectivity and Alexa and Google Home controls. Those listings establish advertised functions, not app reliability, ease of use or a software-quality advantage.

How to size and operate a dehumidifier
ENERGY STAR says building relative humidity is generally considered optimum between 30% and 50%. Its operating guidance recommends closing doors and windows while the dehumidifier runs and allowing air to circulate around it. Use the unit’s humidity display or a separate hygrometer to check conditions rather than treating a manufacturer’s coverage-area figure as a sizing prescription. The right capacity depends on the moisture load, and the evidence here does not establish a room-by-room sizing calculation for either brand.

Check efficiency by exact model
ENERGY STAR says certified dehumidifiers are 20% more efficient than non-certified models. Its current dehumidifier specification took effect October 1, 2025. The cited product evidence does not establish current certification for both exact model numbers, so check each SKU in the live ENERGY STAR product list before using certification as a deciding factor. There is no substantiated head-to-head result here for moisture-removal performance, long-term reliability or noise. The manufacturer feature pages cannot show whether one unit will be quieter in a bedroom, last longer, or remove moisture faster under the same conditions. Treat those as open questions rather than brand advantages.
