The reported plan puts detection with outside providers and gives Teams a way to surface response controls for organizers; it does not establish that the feature is available to customers now.
What Teams deepfake detection is reported to do
Usama Jawad’s October 3, 2026, Neowin report describes an integration for third-party services that detect audio or video that appears synthetic or manipulated in a Teams meeting. The provider would send detection signals to Teams, which could then present meeting controls or other integrations that an organizer could use to respond.

In this reported design, Microsoft supplies the Teams integration and response controls; external providers perform the detection. The report does not say that Microsoft is building its own deepfake detector.
What the report establishes—and what remains unconfirmed
The report cites AI at Work Roadmap ID 573451 and says general availability was scheduled for the following month. That is a forward-looking date attributed to a secondary report, not confirmation that the feature launched or is available. The report does not name any provider, and the roadmap entry or a Microsoft launch announcement was not confirmed.

What organizations should check before relying on it
Until Microsoft or named providers confirm availability and implementation details, organizations should treat this as a reported plan rather than a deployable Teams safeguard. Before evaluating a service, administrators will need to verify the provider’s certification and Teams deployment path, which audio or video signals it covers, how alerts are reviewed and escalated, and what controls exist for false positives. Data handling, retention, consent, licensing, and regional availability also need provider-specific answers.
The report does not identify products to compare, so choosing a vendor or assuming a particular level of protection would go beyond what it establishes.
