Yes. Microsoft Copilot is available for iPhone and iPad as a free download from Apple’s App Store. The standalone app became generally available on iOS and Android on January 16, 2024, after appearing during the 2023 holiday period. You can use it for AI chat, image creation, and questions involving images from your phone; work-related features depend on your account, license, rollout, and organization’s settings.
How to get Copilot on your iPhone
- Open the Microsoft Copilot App Store listing on your iPhone.
- Tap the download button to install the app, then open it and sign in if prompted.
- Use the app’s chat interface to ask a question or request help. To discuss a picture, use the image option in the conversation to select an image from your phone.
The App Store listing describes Copilot as a free download. Some features require particular licenses, and an organization administrator may disable features for a work account.

What Copilot can do on iPhone
When Microsoft announced general availability on January 16, 2024, it said the mobile app included access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3 image creation, and the ability to use images from a phone in a conversation. Those are launch-era descriptions, not a guarantee that every feature or usage limit is identical for every account today. Microsoft’s current App Store listing also describes work-oriented help such as drafting, summarizing, handling files, and connections to Microsoft 365 apps, while noting that availability varies.

Copilot app versus Copilot in Microsoft 365
The standalone Copilot app and Copilot features inside Microsoft 365 apps are related, but they are not interchangeable. Microsoft’s January 2024 announcement described Copilot in the Microsoft 365 mobile app as a separate experience, including the ability for people with a Microsoft account to export generated content to Word or PDF.

Subsequent Microsoft 365 release notes describe iPhone and iPad integrations such as launching Copilot with an iPhone Action button or Siri, Copilot Notebooks in OneNote, and—in eligible work settings—Copilot Chat reasoning across Outlook inboxes, calendars, meetings, and other enterprise data. These capabilities are tied to supported accounts, licenses, rollouts, and, for organizational data, administrator controls. They should not be assumed to come with every free consumer Copilot account.
Is Copilot free, and do you need Copilot Pro?
The iPhone app is free to download; the App Store listing warns that some capabilities require a license. You do not need to buy Copilot Pro just to install the standalone app. Microsoft announced Copilot Pro at $20 per month in 2024 for individuals seeking higher-tier AI capabilities. That is a historical launch price, not a verified current price, so check Microsoft’s current offer before subscribing.

Microsoft also announced Microsoft 365 Copilot for small businesses at $30 per person per month for one to 299 seats in 2024. That dated launch price concerns a work subscription, not a required fee for the consumer iPhone app; confirm current eligibility and pricing with Microsoft before purchasing.
When did Copilot come to iPhone?
Microsoft announced general availability of its Copilot app for iOS and Android on January 16, 2024. TechCrunch reported on January 3, 2024, that the app had appeared on iOS, iPadOS, and Android during the holiday period and characterized it as the successor to Bing Chat’s mobile experience. In its January announcement, Microsoft also reported cumulative Copilot milestones of more than 5 billion chats and more than 5 billion images. Those were company-reported totals at that time, not current usage figures.
