To capture an entire page with Microlink from Laravel, make an HTTP GET request to https://api.microlink.io, pass the target as url, and set screenshot.fullPage to true. Laravel can encode that option as a nested array. After checking the response, read the hosted image URL from data.screenshot.url. The example below adapts Microlink’s documented parameters to Laravel’s HTTP client; it does not require a Microlink-specific Laravel SDK.
Capture a full-page screenshot with Laravel’s HTTP client
This example requests a PNG and disables metadata extraction because the application only needs the screenshot. Remove meta or set it to true if you also need extracted page metadata.

Laravel’s throw() surfaces HTTP failures; the subsequent checks handle an API-level failure or an absent screenshot URL.
How the full-page option and response work
Microlink’s screenshot reference documents fullPage as an option that requests the whole scrollable page; full-page capture is not the default. Without it, a screenshot captures the visible viewport. In nested Laravel request data, use 'screenshot' => ['fullPage' => true]. In a raw query string, the documented notation is screenshot.fullPage=true. A successful JSON response includes status and screenshot data under data.screenshot. The screenshot object can include url, type, width, height, and size. Use data.screenshot.url when you need the hosted image asset, and validate the response before storing or displaying it.
Choose image format and capture behavior
PNG or JPEG
The screenshot option supports PNG and JPEG; PNG is the documented default. Specify type explicitly when downstream code expects a particular format. JPEG quality applies when JPEG is selected. The content-method reference lists screenshot options and defaults.
Full page or one element
Use fullPage: true for a whole scrollable page. Microlink also supports screenshot.element with a CSS selector for a component-only capture. These answer different needs: don’t use an element-targeted request as though it were a full-page screenshot.

Wait for dynamic content
If important page content loads asynchronously, configure an appropriate shared wait control before capture. A screenshot request should not be assumed to wait for application-specific rendering unless you specify a suitable condition. Laravel’s HTTP client accepts a parameter array and handles query encoding, which is preferable to concatenating a URL manually. If another client requires you to build the query string yourself, use an encoder so query characters in the target URL are escaped:

Choose JSON or embed mode
The default JSON response is useful when a backend needs to validate the result or use screenshot metadata alongside its URL. Microlink’s guide also describes an embed mode for use cases that need the screenshot field directly as an image URL for HTML, CSS, or Markdown. Choose based on what the caller needs: structured response data for backend handling, or an image-oriented response for embedding. See the screenshot guide for response modes.
Access, allowance, and production options
As stated in Microlink’s guide accessed October 3, 2026, its API works without an API key and offers 25 free requests per day. The same guide says production plans unlock options including configurable TTL, stale-while-revalidate caching, custom filenames, custom headers, and proxy. These vendor-stated allowances and plan features may change; check the current guide before relying on them. No plan prices or plan-specific feature availability are established here. Troubleshooting
The response is an HTTP error
$response->throw() raises an exception for an unsuccessful HTTP status. Catch that exception at the application boundary if you need to log the failure or return a controlled error to your own caller. Don’t try to read screenshot fields from an HTTP error response as if it were a successful capture.

The API status is not successful
An HTTP response alone is not enough to establish that a screenshot was produced. Check the JSON status before reading the screenshot object, as in the example. Handle a non-success result according to your application’s retry and reporting policy rather than assuming the target page always captures successfully.
The screenshot URL is missing
Check that data.screenshot.url exists and is a non-empty string before using it. The example throws a specific exception when it is absent, so the application won’t silently store an empty URL.
The screenshot misses content below the fold
Confirm that the request actually sends screenshot.fullPage=true—either through Laravel’s nested option or the raw dotted query parameter. Full-page capture is not the default.

Asynchronous page content is absent
Set an appropriate shared wait control for content that appears after the initial page load. The right condition depends on the target page; no universal application-rendering wait is implied by the screenshot option alone.
A target URL with query parameters behaves unexpectedly
Pass the URL through Laravel’s request parameter array or a query encoder such as PHP’s http_build_query. Avoid hand-concatenating unescaped query values, which can alter the target URL or the API parameters.
