mHelpDesk and FieldEdge both manage field-service work, but their published emphasis differs: mHelpDesk presents a broad service-business workflow, while FieldEdge explicitly targets small and midsize contractors operating multiple trucks. Neither vendor’s reviewed pages establish that it is universally better or less expensive. Choose by testing your actual dispatch, job, billing, and accounting processes—and get comparable written quotes.

Which one suits your operating model?
Consider mHelpDesk if you want to evaluate a broad service-business workflow
Its homepage describes coordinating field teams and automating customer contact, scheduling, communication, and billing. The advertised free trial and onboarding assistance may be useful if you want to explore the product before committing. Confirm what the trial includes and whether migration, training, and setup help are part of the specific offer you receive.
Give FieldEdge a close look if you run multiple trucks
FieldEdge specifically positions its software for contractors with multiple trucks and describes truck scheduling, matching technicians by skills, location, and availability, live job statuses, map-based scheduling, and operational dashboards. A multi-truck business should test these functions against its own dispatch board, territories, rules, and reporting needs rather than assuming that a product description settles the question.
Use your day-to-day work as the deciding test
Count technicians and trucks, locations, dispatcher workload, recurring service agreements, and the complexity of routing and reporting. Then trace representative work from first customer request to payment. A system that handles your exceptions, handoffs, and accounting process reliably is a better fit than one chosen by headline feature count.

FieldEdge’s product information describes multi-truck dispatch, customer and equipment history, service agreements, digital price presentation and pricebooks, quotes and invoices, technician access to job notes and equipment details, mobile CRM, and payment collection in the field. Its pricing page names QuickBooks, Intacct, FleetSharp, and Trane Technologies among its integrations. It also describes real-time QuickBooks sync.
The reviewed mHelpDesk homepage presents the estimate-to-dispatch-to-invoice-to-payment workflow, but does not show an integration list or a comparable feature matrix. That is not evidence that a particular integration or feature is unavailable; it means you should ask for a current, product-specific answer.
For either vendor, have the demonstration cover your actual sequence of work: intake, scheduling, dispatch, estimate, price presentation, work history, invoice, payment collection, accounting sync, and reporting. For accounting, confirm the exact edition, which way data flows, sync timing, how errors are surfaced, and whether setup has a fee. If you need mobile payments, verify operating-system and offline requirements and the exact payment-reader models supported before buying hardware.
What do the plans cost, and is there a free trial?
Neither reviewed page provides a comparable numeric price. mHelpDesk’s homepage does not publish a current plan matrix or price. FieldEdge lists Select, Premier, and Elite, but says pricing varies with team size and add-ons and requires a sales conversation. Request written quotes from both vendors using the same number of users and trucks, onboarding assumptions, contract period, payment-processing requirements, and list of add-ons.

| FieldEdge plan | Published inclusions |
|---|---|
| Select | Essential dispatching, booking and scheduling, basic agreements and quotes, customer management, and flat-rate pricing. |
| Premier | Select-level capabilities plus advanced dispatching, multi-option quotes, advanced agreements, saved reports, and additional mobile licenses. |
| Elite | Includes features such as unlimited saved reports, outbound call recording, Proposal Pro, MarketingEdge with two-way texting, a consumer portal, and warehouse inventory management under a stated QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Advanced Inventory condition. |
FieldEdge says some advanced features may be added to Select and Premier for additional pricing. Tier details and add-on terms can change; check the current proposal rather than relying on a plan label alone. The published FieldEdge pricing page says there is no free trial. mHelpDesk advertises a free trial on its homepage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you compare onboarding and support?
mHelpDesk’s homepage promotes personalized onboarding, a pre-launch review, data migration assistance, best-practice guidance, phone and email support, success coaches, and training. FieldEdge describes an onboarding specialist and training resources, with support channels that differ by plan: chat for Select, email or phone for Premier, and a dedicated customer success representative for Elite.
Ask each vendor to put the specific onboarding deliverables and support terms in writing. Clarify who moves your data, what data is included, how training is delivered, support hours, response targets, and which channels your proposed contract includes. If you cannot trial FieldEdge, request a scenario-based demonstration and speak with references whose team size and workflow resemble yours.
What to verify before signing
- Ask both vendors to demonstrate your dispatch rules, including skills, availability, territories, and schedule changes.

- Confirm every required integration and its data direction, sync timing, error handling, and implementation cost.
- Check mobile operating-system and offline needs, plus payment-reader compatibility for the exact hardware you plan to use.
- Compare written quotes on matching assumptions, including users, trucks, add-ons, onboarding, contract period, and payment processing.
- Agree on migration scope, training, support channels, hours, and response expectations before committing.
mHelpDesk’s homepage also displays “$2B+” worth of jobs completed and “51M+” jobs completed more efficiently. These are undated claims made by mHelpDesk; the page does not provide a publication year or methodology, so they should not be treated as independent evidence that the product outperforms FieldEdge.
