Meta’s latest AI models belong to its Muse family; the company’s announcements do not identify a model called “Wonder.” The newest Muse Spark release cited by Meta is Muse Spark 1.3, announced September 2, 2026. Meta says it improves coding and agentic tasks and is available through Muse Code and Meta Model API. Meta’s announcement describes 1.3 as a model update, while Muse Code is a separate terminal-based coding tool built around it.
What is Meta Muse Spark?
Muse Spark is the first model in Meta’s Muse family, introduced on April 8, 2026. Meta initially made it available through meta.ai and the Meta AI app, with a private API preview for selected users. The launch announcement positioned it as a multimodal AI model.

The Muse name now covers more than one kind of release. Meta’s research index also lists Muse Glimmer, Muse Voice Transcribe, Muse Image and Muse Video. Those names indicate a broader collection of models and media-related work, not a set of interchangeable general-purpose chatbots. Meta AI Research’s index lists the family’s releases.

These are dated announcements, not a guarantee that every feature or access route is currently available in every country or to every account. For example, a July 24, 2026 newsroom post said assistant features powered by Muse Spark 1.1 would begin rolling out in select markets, with more countries and surfaces—including WhatsApp—planned later. What is the difference between Muse Spark and Muse Code?
Muse Spark is the model; Muse Code is a coding tool that uses the model. The distinction matters if you are trying to choose an access route: Muse Code is aimed at terminal-based software development, while Meta AI and meta.ai are assistant interfaces. Meta’s August 5 announcement described Muse Code as an agent for complex software engineering across large repositories, and specified macOS or Linux installation. The announcement explains Muse Code and Spark 1.2.
Meta’s September 2 announcement says Muse Spark 1.3 is available through Muse Code and Meta Model API. Those developer-oriented routes are different from simply opening the Meta AI app or meta.ai. The announcements establish these routes, but do not provide a complete current account-eligibility, geographic availability, pricing or API-limits guide.

What does Meta claim improved in Muse Spark 1.3?
Meta says Spark 1.3 improves performance on agentic and coding tasks and is designed to sustain longer-horizon work. It also reports that its engineers’ coding comparisons with Spark 1.2 used about 20% fewer tool calls and about 25% fewer tokens with 1.3. These are Meta’s internal comparison figures, not independent benchmark results, and they do not guarantee equivalent savings for an individual user. Meta’s Spark 1.3 release details.
The claims should be read in that scope: they describe company-reported coding comparisons, not a complete public scorecard across models or tasks. The release material does not establish independent performance results or guaranteed user outcomes.

Are Muse models open to download?
Meta’s September 2026 announcement describes an open-weights release as being on the roadmap. That is a future-facing statement, not confirmation that downloadable weights have already been released. A service or API being available does not mean the model weights are available for local deployment. See Meta’s roadmap wording.

The announcements identify software access routes rather than a dedicated physical device. Muse Spark was offered through the Meta AI app and meta.ai; Muse Code was specified for macOS or Linux. The announcements do not identify a special computer model, accessory or other hardware item as a requirement. Current access, pricing and eligibility details are not fully established in those announcements, so check the relevant Meta product interface or API information for the terms that apply to you.
