There is no confirmed Switch 2 fix yet. SEGA says demo progress can carry over and that the full game asks about importing it at launch, but the Switch 2 edition is not scheduled to release until November 12, 2026. ATLUS’s instructions for restoring a missed import prompt cover other platforms, not Switch 2. Do not delete Switch 2 save data based on those instructions.
Can a Metaphor: ReFantazio demo save transfer to the Switch 2 game?
SEGA’s Metaphor: ReFantazio FAQ says demo save data can carry over to the main game. It says the import question appears when the full game is launched: “Once you launch the main game, you will be asked if you want to carry over the save file.”

That general FAQ does not confirm Switch 2 compatibility. Nintendo lists the Switch 2 edition for November 12, 2026, a future date as of October 13, 2026, and its listing does not describe demo-save transfer. The official sources reviewed also do not establish whether a Switch 2 demo is available in your region or how its save would transfer.
What to do if the prompt is missing on Switch 2
- Check the full game’s first-launch screens. If an import prompt appears, follow its choices. SEGA says the prompt is presented when launching the main game, but Switch 2-specific behavior has not been confirmed.
- Do not delete saved data to try to restore the prompt. ATLUS’s deletion guidance is for other named platforms, not Switch 2, and deleting full-game data could remove existing progress.
- Check current official support guidance. Contact ATLUS or SEGA support, or Nintendo support, for Switch 2-specific instructions if the prompt does not appear. The procedure may be clarified after the edition is released.
Why instructions for other platforms may not apply
In an ATLUS notice dated October 13, 2024, ATLUS explains that on the platforms addressed, declining the initial import prompt creates a full-game system save and can stop the prompt from appearing on later launches. It says the prompt may appear again after selecting New Game, unless demo data was already imported.

For those platforms, ATLUS describes deleting the full game’s system save and restarting as a way to restore the prompt. Its instructions differ for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Steam, and Steam Deck; ATLUS warns that console procedures can remove all full-game saves and that Windows users should consider cloud synchronization. The notice does not list Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, so these steps are not a verified Switch 2 fix.
Keep platform and account context in mind
SEGA’s FAQ gives platform-specific limits: Xbox and Microsoft Store on PC support cross-save, while PS4 and PS5 saves are not cross-compatible; a PS4 demo save cannot continue in the PS5 main game, or vice versa. Those examples do not establish transfer compatibility between Switch and Switch 2, or between either Nintendo system and another platform.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 product listing gives an estimated game file size of 62.1 GB and notes Save Data Cloud support. Neither detail confirms demo-save import behavior; cloud support should not be treated as a way to restore a missing import prompt.
