Metanoia, Aethertek and TechPhosis have announced a collaboration to develop and commercialize 5G FR2 and next-generation 6G FR3 solutions in India. The October 7, 2026 announcement describes an integrated radio and network platform—not a completed 6G deployment or independently validated service.

What the partnership is intended to do

The companies present the collaboration as a way to build open-architecture equipment for private and public cellular networks in India, aligned with the country’s Make-in-India, Design-in-India and Integrate-in-India aims. The stated goal is to give equipment builders, system integrators and operators a customizable radio platform without proprietary vendor lock-in. Those are company-stated aims; the announcement does not document customer deployments or measured interoperability.

What the announced system includes

Albizia radio and TechPhosis network platforms

The announced system combines Metanoia and Aethertek’s Albizia FR2/FR3 radio with TechPhosis’s 5G Core (5GC) and Distributed Unit (DU) platforms. The release says Albizia combines Metanoia’s Cobra MT2824 baseband chip with Aethertek’s NOVA Antenna-in-Module (AiM).

  • Fractional n minute frequency synthesizer and whole minute frequency synthesizer
  • Frequency detector (PFD) with operating frequency up to 125 MHz

MOSART software and O-RAN WG7 hardware

Metanoia’s MOSART—Metanoia Open Source Advanced Radio Technology—is described as software for O-RAN Alliance Working Group 7 (WG7) white-box radio hardware architectures. The announcement says MOSART is available on GitLab and lists WG7 platform categories of 24 dBm indoor, 5 W outdoor and FR2/FR3 50 dBm outdoor radio units. These are configuration categories stated in the release, not independent performance findings or proof of conformance.

What is known—and not known—about FR3

A separate Metanoia release dated June 4, 2026 describes an Albizia FR2 configuration using the MT2824 5G baseband SoC, MT3812 IF/RF transceiver and Aethertek’s Nova AiM. That provides context for the earlier FR2 platform, but does not establish the FR3 radio’s configuration, qualification or performance.

Why the companies describe it as an open platform

The release says MOSART is intended to let equipment makers, integrators and operators customize a baseline radio implementation. Open radio hardware and customizable software may offer flexibility to organizations building networks, but the announcement alone does not establish interoperability with particular equipment, freedom from all vendor dependencies, or performance in a live network.

TechPhosis CEO Ritesh Aggarwal described the effort as a launch of “one of the first 6G radios” with the partners and said MOSART could help early FR3 researchers build customized solutions. Metanoia CEO Stewart Wu said the aim is to commercialize open radio platforms by coupling O-RAN WG7 hardware with MOSART. Both statements are company positions, not independent assessments of product readiness.

What this means for Indian operators and developers

For operators, OEMs, integrators and research teams, the announcement identifies a potential platform to investigate: radio hardware spanning FR2 and FR3, MOSART software, and TechPhosis core and DU components. It does not yet provide enough public detail to assess deployment readiness or compare the offer with other vendors on price, tested interoperability, availability or measured performance.
