METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 2 brings Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to modern platforms for the first time, alongside Peace Walker and the bonus game Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. On Switch 2, Nintendo Life reviewer Ollie Reynolds reported both main games running at 60 fps; the trade-off is that Peace Walker has lower resolution ceilings. It is a substantial package for Metal Gear fans, with portability especially appealing for Peace Walker‘s mission-based play.
What’s included in Volume 2?
Konami’s collection launched on 27 August 2026 for Switch 2, Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The package brings together two full games and one bonus title:

- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2008. Konami describes this collection as the game’s first release on modern platforms, with enhanced visuals.
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, using the HD Collection version. Its story follows Big Boss as he builds a private army, with base-building and tactical espionage at the center.
- Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, a bonus game originally made for Game Boy Color.
Digital extras include a Metal Gear Solid 4 Database, screenplay and master books for each main game, and Metal Gear Solid: Digital Soundtrack Vol.2. Konami also sells MGS4 and Peace Walker as separate digital titles, so the full collection is not the only way to buy either main game. The package contents and separate-title options are listed in Konami’s launch announcement.

In Nintendo Life’s North American Switch 2 review, published 1 September 2026, Ollie Reynolds reported that both main games ran at a solid 60 frames per second, with no frame-rate dips noticed during his play. These are one reviewer’s hands-on observations, not independent lab measurements or a guarantee for every play session.

| Game | Reported maximum resolution | Reported frame rate |
|---|---|---|
| Metal Gear Solid 4 | Up to 4K docked; 1080p handheld | 60 fps, as reported by Reynolds |
| Peace Walker | 1080p docked; 720p handheld | 60 fps, as reported by Reynolds |
The clearest technical compromise is Peace Walker’s lower resolution, particularly in handheld mode. Reynolds nevertheless found the Switch 2’s portable play a good fit for its short missions. His review awarded the collection 9/10, praising the main games, bonus material and performance while noting the lower resolution ceiling for Peace Walker and that Ghost Babel opens in a separate app. That score and those judgments reflect one reviewer’s assessment; see the Nintendo Life Switch 2 review.
How does multiplayer work?
Online multiplayer is available for Peace Walker only, not for MGS4 or Ghost Babel. Konami lists support for up to six players online and says crossplay is not supported. Players should therefore expect to play with others on the same platform, rather than relying on cross-platform matchmaking. Konami’s product and launch information does not guarantee how long online services will remain available.

Is the Switch 2 version worth buying?
The Switch 2 edition’s strongest case is the combination of access and convenience: it puts MGS4 on a current Nintendo system, includes Peace Walker and Ghost Babel, and makes both main games portable. Reynolds’s reported 60 fps performance is encouraging, though buyers should keep in mind that it comes from a single review and that Peace Walker runs at a lower reported resolution than MGS4.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAt the time of the cited US product listing, Nintendo showed a regular price of $49.99 for the Switch 2 collection. That is a US price, not a global one, and it can change; check Nintendo’s US listing for the current price in that market. Compare it with the local cost of the separate digital versions of MGS4 and Peace Walker if you do not want the complete package.
