Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are getting more useful for navigating without taking out your phone: Meta announced that they would add voice-requested turn-by-turn cycling directions and real-time transit departures, alongside walking guidance that can use visible landmarks. The cycling and transit rollout was set to begin later in September 2026 in the US and Canada, but an announced rollout does not guarantee the features are active on every device or route.
What changed in Meta glasses navigation?
The update is for Meta Ray-Ban Display, the model with an on-glasses display—not every Ray-Ban Meta model. Meta’s September 23, 2026 announcement described three kinds of guidance:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Walking: Turn-by-turn directions can use things you see around you as landmarks. Meta’s example is an instruction to turn left at a yellow house instead of relying only on a street name. The glasses can also show a map and provide audio walking directions in supported cities.
- Cycling: Meta announced voice-requested turn-by-turn cycling directions.
- Transit: Meta announced real-time transit departures displayed on the glasses.
The announcement said cycling and transit availability would start rolling out later that month in the US and Canada. It did not provide a city-by-city coverage list for those features, so check the glasses and companion app for availability where you plan to use them.

How to start navigation on Meta Ray-Ban Display
- On the glasses’ display, open Maps.
- Find a destination by dictating a search or browsing nearby categories.
- Select the destination and start navigation. You can also say, “Hey Meta, navigate me to [location].”
- If you would rather use your phone, send the selected location to its navigation app.
For local search and navigation, the Meta AI mobile app needs Always On (or Allow all the time) and Precise location permissions. The FAQ lists these requirements; check your phone’s app-permission settings if location search or directions do not work.

What to check before relying on the feature
- Confirm that your specific glasses have the display and that the feature you want—walking, cycling, or transit—is available on your device.
- For walking directions, check the current supported-city list; the feature is beta and coverage can change.
- Allow the companion app’s required location permissions if you want nearby search or navigation.
- Keep the phone-based navigation option in mind if a route or feature is unavailable on the glasses.
Meta’s 2025 launch announcement identifies the Neural Band as included with Meta Ray-Ban Display. It gave a starting price of $799 USD at launch for the glasses and band; that historical figure is not confirmation of current pricing.
