How do I change privacy settings on Meta glasses?
Open the Meta AI app and select your connected glasses or their device settings. Review the available controls for captures, voice, notifications, and information shared with Meta. Meta describes the app as the place to manage these preferences, but menu names and order can differ by app version, device, and region; treat this as a route to inspect, not a guaranteed sequence of taps. If you previously used Meta View, Meta said users could continue managing their glasses through the Meta AI app as paired devices, settings, and media moved to its Devices tab during the app update. It also helps to distinguish gallery capture or streaming from asking Meta AI to interpret what the camera sees. Meta says notification and capture LEDs activate for gallery capture or streaming. Ray-Ban says some newer glasses do not activate the capture LED during AI camera use when the view is being interpreted rather than captured as content for sharing. That model-specific qualification means the LED should not be treated as a complete indicator of every camera-related AI interaction. Do Meta glasses record when the light is off?
Do not use the light alone to decide whether a camera-related feature is active. Meta describes the capture LED as a signal for capture, while Ray-Ban’s guidance says some newer models do not turn it on for AI camera interpretation. The exact behavior depends on the action and glasses generation; consult the guidance for your particular model rather than assuming one universal LED rule.

Meta advises asking people for permission before capturing them and avoiding sensitive places where people expect privacy. It also says covering the LED can prevent photo or video capture and that deliberately covering it violates its guidelines. Meta’s privacy FAQ explains its recommendations.

Are my glasses photos shared automatically?
Meta says photos and videos stay on the glasses until you transfer them to your phone with the Meta AI app; after transfer, they are stored in the phone’s photo roll. Transferring a file to the phone is distinct from choosing to post or send it elsewhere: Meta’s guidance does not say that transfer itself automatically shares media to social platforms. Meta’s AI-glasses privacy FAQ states: “Everything you capture on your glasses stays on your glasses until you choose to move them onto your phone using the Meta AI app.”

How do I turn off voice controls or microphone on Meta glasses?
In the Meta AI app, inspect the voice preferences shown for your connected glasses and adjust the controls that are available for your model. Do not assume that disabling voice controls disables every microphone function: calls, audio playback, and other features may behave separately, and the official FAQs reviewed do not resolve every model’s behavior. Meta says voice recordings can be deleted using Meta AI, but its public guidance does not provide a stable, model-independent tap-by-tap route. Look in the app’s current voice or privacy controls for the available recording-management option.
