Was ein MeshCore-Repeater macht – und was du dafür brauchst
Ein Repeater ist ein Netzknoten: Er kann geeignete MeshCore-Pakete in Richtung ihres Ziels weiterleiten. Er leitet jedoch nicht jedes empfangene Paket weiter. Ein Companion erfüllt eine andere Rolle: Er verbindet die MeshCore-App mit einem Funkgerät. - Antenne: Anschluss und Funkband müssen zum Gerät passen. Verlasse dich nicht ungeprüft auf die Bezeichnung SMA oder RP-SMA; gleiche Stecker und Antenne mit der Hardwaredokumentation ab.
- USB-Datenkabel: Du brauchst eine Datenverbindung zum Flashen und Konfigurieren. Ein Ladekabel ohne Datenleitungen kann ungeeignet sein.
- Solarpanel und Batterie: Relevant, wenn am Montageort keine zuverlässige Dauerstromversorgung verfügbar ist. Eine allgemeingültige Dimensionierung ist nicht angegeben; Bedarf und Laufzeit hängen unter anderem von Gerät, Funkbetrieb, Sonneneinstrahlung und Jahreszeit ab.

Frequenz und Preset für die eigene Region einstellen
MeshCore nennt in seiner FAQ 868 MHz als Beispiel für UK und die EU sowie 915 MHz für Neuseeland, Australien und die USA. Diese Angaben sind keine universelle Frequenzempfehlung und ersetzen weder die Prüfung des aktuellen Regionen-Presets noch die geltenden örtlichen Funkregeln. Presets können sich ändern. Wähle daher im offiziellen Konfigurationstool das aktuelle Preset für dein Land beziehungsweise deine Region und kontrolliere, dass das Gerät auf dieselben Radioeinstellungen wie das lokale Netz eingestellt ist.
Eine Community-Einstiegsanleitung für EU/UK nennt als Beispiel für „Narrow“ 869,618 MHz, 62,5 kHz Bandbreite, SF8 und Coding Rate 8. Behandle diese Kombination als veränderlichen Community-Presetwert, nicht als Einstellung für alle Länder oder als Rechtsauskunft. Repeater flashen und konfigurieren
- Modell und Region festlegen. Wähle ein Gerät mit dem richtigen regionalen Funkband und kontrolliere das exakte Modell in der aktuellen Flasher-Liste. Ähnlich benannte Produkte können in unterschiedlichen Funkbandvarianten verkauft werden.
- Antenne anschließen und per USB verbinden. Prüfe Stecker, Antenne und Gerätedokumentation; schalte das Funkgerät nicht ohne angeschlossene Antenne ein. Die MeshCore-Europe-Einstiegsanleitung warnt davor, dass Senden ohne Antenne den Funkchip beschädigen kann.
- Repeater-Firmware flashen. Öffne den offiziellen Web-Flasher, wähle das exakte Gerätemodell und die Repeater-Variante. Companion- und Repeater-Firmware erfüllen unterschiedliche Aufgaben und sind für den jeweiligen Einsatzzweck nicht austauschbar.
- Radio und Knotendaten konfigurieren. Öffne das offizielle USB-Konfigurationstool und wähle das aktuelle regionale Preset. Stelle die Funkparameter ein und trage Name, Standort und Admin-Passwort ein. Die MeshCore-FAQ verlangt, die Serverfrequenz für das eigene Land beziehungsweise die Region festzulegen.
- Einstellungen speichern und neu starten. Nutze das Konfigurationstool zum Speichern; es bietet außerdem Funktionen wie Neustart und OTA-Update. Sorge anschließend für die vorgesehene dauerhafte Stromversorgung.
- Verbindung prüfen, bevor du montierst. Nutze ein anderes MeshCore-Gerät, um zu prüfen, ob der Knoten in der Knotenliste sichtbar ist und Nachrichten über ihn weitergeleitet werden. Die MeshCore-Europe-Anleitung empfiehlt, Sichtbarkeit und Weiterleitung vor der endgültigen Montage zu testen.
- Standort installieren. Wähle einen möglichst hohen, freien Standort. Bei Solarversorgung müssen Panel und Batterie für die örtlichen Bedingungen geeignet platziert und gegen Wetter geschützt werden; sichere die Montage und hole die nötige Genehmigung ein.
Standort, Reichweite und Aufwand realistisch einschätzen
Eine erhöhte Position mit möglichst freier Sichtlinie kann den praktischen Nutzen eines Repeaters verbessern. Gebäude, Gelände, Antenne, Störungen, Wetter, Funkband und Montage beeinflussen die Verbindung; eine bestimmte Reichweite lässt sich daraus nicht garantieren.
MeshCore Europe nennt für einen gut platzierten solarbetriebenen Repeater auf einem Hügel oder hohen Gebäude eine mögliche Abdeckung von 5 bis 20 km in jede Richtung. Die Anleitung nennt außerdem geschätzte Hardwarekosten von 40 bis 120 EUR und eine geschätzte Einrichtungsdauer von 1 bis 3 Stunden. Für diese Community-Schätzwerte ist kein Veröffentlichungsjahr angegeben. Sie sind weder Herstellerangaben noch ein aktueller Preisvergleich oder eine Reichweitengarantie.
