Medisafe is the clearest fit in the reviewed information if you need a caregiver to be notified when a dose is missed: it says users can invite a family member or loved one as a Medfriend, who receives a missed-dose notification. MyTherapy documents reminders and lets users share a health report or medication plan with a clinician, but the reviewed materials do not establish an equivalent caregiver alert. Neither a missed-dose alert nor a shareable report necessarily gives someone access to a live, editable medication schedule.
How the two apps differ for caregivers
Compare three distinct capabilities: an alert sent after a missed dose, access to a shared or synchronized medication schedule, and a report the user elects to share. One does not imply the others.

| App | Missed-dose alert to another person | Schedule and tracking features described | Sharing described |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medisafe | Medisafe says an invited Medfriend is notified if the user misses a dose. This is the company’s product description, not an independent delivery test. Medisafe | Reminders, medication and appointment tracking, measurements, progress reports, and interaction alerts are described by Medisafe. Its Help Center lists guidance for schedules, reminder times, time zones, and notification issues. Medisafe Help Center | Family-member Medfriends are described, but the reviewed information does not establish every permission, including whether a Medfriend can view or edit the complete schedule. Check the current app workflow. |
| MyTherapy | An equivalent caregiver notification after a missed dose is not established in the reviewed materials. MyTherapy | MyTherapy describes medication alarms, taken-or-skipped dose documentation, refill reminders, and symptom and measurement tracking. MyTherapy | Users can share a health report or medication plan with a doctor using a one-time code. This is user-directed report sharing, not evidence of a live caregiver schedule or missed-dose alert. MyTherapy |
What “sharing” means in practice
Missed-dose escalation
Medisafe explicitly describes a Medfriend receiving a notification if the user misses a dose. Before relying on it, confirm how the invitation is accepted, what event triggers an alert, and whether the caregiver’s device can receive notifications. MyTherapy’s clinician report workflow should not be treated as the same feature.

Schedule access and editing
A caregiver being notified of a missed dose does not prove they can see the full medication list, synchronize changes, or edit dose times. The available descriptions do not settle every access control in either app. During setup, look for the specific permissions offered in the current version and clarify whether the other person sees the schedule, dose status, or only a report you send.

Reports for a clinician
MyTherapy describes a health report or medication plan shared with a doctor using a one-time code. This can be useful when the goal is to share a summary with a clinician, but it is not a substitute for real-time caregiver escalation.
Check schedule fit and notification reliability
Medication routines can include different doses on different days, changing times, as-needed medicines, or travel across time zones. Medisafe’s Help Center includes guidance on schedules, reminder times, time zones, and notification problems; use it to check the setup against the person’s actual routine. Medisafe Help Center

- Enter the schedule carefully, including days and times, then review it with the person managing the medicines.
- For travel or time-zone changes, check how the app handles local time before assuming a reminder will remain at the intended hour.
- Enable notifications in both the app and the phone’s operating-system settings, and verify the caregiver invitation has been accepted.
- Test the intended notification workflow with the people involved. A reminder or log reflects app interaction; it cannot prove a medicine was swallowed, and no app should be treated as fail-safe.
Privacy questions to settle before inviting someone
Both the amount of information shared and the way it appears on a device matter. Ask what the caregiver can see, whether medication names appear in notifications, whether account creation or cloud backup is required for the feature you want, and how to revoke access if circumstances change. The reviewed materials do not answer each question for every app version or region.

Choosing the right setup
- Choose Medisafe as the first option to investigate if a caregiver notification after a missed dose is the main requirement, because Medisafe explicitly describes its Medfriend alert.
- Consider MyTherapy if reminders, dose logging, refill prompts, and a user-shared report for a clinician meet the need; do not assume that report sharing includes caregiver alerts.
- Confirm the exact access level in the current app before sharing sensitive information: alert, schedule visibility, editing permission, and report sharing are separate functions.
- Keep a human backup for medicines where a missed dose could have serious consequences. An app can support a routine, but it cannot verify ingestion or guarantee delivery of a notification.
